My reaction to the Syrians hitting the post in the last minute brought more attention than I would have liked to the fact that I was streaming it at work.

Ospina touched an indirect free kick into the net which meant had the affect of knocking Chile out. If he had not dived, the goal wouldnt have counted

A few funny things happened, including
Back a year ago Bolivia beated Perú and draw with Chile. The Chilean federation complained back then because Bolivia had field a player that was ineligible so Conmebol awarded 3 points to both Peru and Chile. Nobody really cared about Peru winning those 3 points because they were bottom of the table.

Fast forward a year Peru and Chile end up with 26 points, Peru goes to the playoff based on goal difference.

If the Chilean federation had not asked for those 3 points, they'd now be playing the playoff and Peru would be eliminated!
Also two of the goals to knock USA out are hilarious

one of Honduras' goals (fluke)

One of Panama's goals (phantom goal)

Here's that Peru goal. Hadn't heard about that till you mentioned it. You sure it was indirect, cause they set up a wall and he straight went for it

You’re right, saw another video that shows it a bit clearer, plus the complaints after.

Ref mustn’t have communicated it very well to the striker

Did the keeper get a hand to it before it went in?

This thing is a fucking farce. The Euro qualifiers are only to start in March of 2019? I thought they were meant to be reducing the number of international games. not tacking on some bullshit new tournament just for more tv money

the number of games remains the same, friendlies are eliminated - that's my understanding.

surely cutting out the friendlies with oman, and playing teams of our level is better for the development of our team.

not taking away from the fact that this is 100% to increase $$$

The performance in these groups/ex-friendlies counts towards qualifying for the tournament, I think

Yeah the system can be used to qualify for the Euros, though it favours big teams that do shite in qualifying really.

draw suited both teams in terms of going through, and Columbia were 1-0 at the time, I wonder if there was some collusion :D

bit disappointing that we made no real effort for teh win, but if lukaku had put his chance away we'd be calling it a master class

And thats why people who call performances like that masterclasses are always wrong.

A plan carried out to perfection, with added ruthlessness.
If you axially managed that, dunno how that could be wrong.

Lukakus chance wasn't that clear cut, certainly less so than the one DeGea saved with his foot and that was Uniteds only real chance. If Liverpool had a proper centre forward they'd have beaten United handily because they weren't denied space in the final 3rd any where near as effectively as you'd need to to claim it was a perfect plan from Mourinho.

yeah Lukaku could only really put it where he could he was being closed down on either side by defenders. Herrera had probably his worst game in a Utd shirt yesterday. he should have been hooked at half time. Matic was the only one who looked in any way decent.

Fed up with Mourinho in these type of games. Ashley Young has no business being near the attack these days. Liverpool had won once in 7 games and were there for the taking. I wouldn't be pissed off if we played the team and way we had been recently lost.

De Bruyne yesterday, fucking hell some of the best assists you'll see all season. Their second goal after winning the ball back from the tip off was ridiculous
