Forgot Bill Paxton was in this. Charlie Sheen's tweet about him is demented gold.
Tonight's viewing sorted.

hate that people are just saying "doddery old people's mistake"
They are saying he took the wrong envelope instead of waiting to be handed the one he was supposed to have.

But surely if they knew he had taken the wrong one and had not waited for the right one they would have interveened before the announcement?

Don't know about that, I saw somewhere that Emma Stone had been walking around with her card the whole time since getting her one; it was a duplicate of it that ended up in Beatty's hand.
So like if he had taken the wrong envelope, how could she also have the right one.
It's actually quite interesting.

I expect PWC will take the fall either way. If they are doing it again next year its probably not really their fault.

OK watched the clip.
You can clearly see Warren Beatty recognising there was a fuck-up. Faye was beside him going get on with it Warren you crazy old fuck.
It looks like he was thikning about saying hold yisser horses there's something wrong here, then she took the card off him.

It was nominated and didn't win the oscar but BBC 4 showed Life Animated there recently and I watched it over the weekend. Really good documentary about a kid with Autism who had become totally withdrawn and how Disney films allowed him connect with the world again and make some sense of it. Well worth a watch if you get a chance

And learned to read from the credits!
His first words after 3 years of silence were to draw an analogy between how sad his brother was that his birthday party was over and Peter Pan not wanting to grow up. Amazing to see how he developed after they got through to him.

Ryan Tubridy interviewed his father on the morning that he got the Oscar nomination. The interview might still be on the Radio 1 website.

just watched a bit of the Oscars, it was grand. I thought Kimmel did a good job, but i like him anyway.
would've like Lin-Manuel to get the oscar & complete his EGOT, but La La Land really has an amazing soundtrack. so much so that i can't stop thinking about the film again now, even though when i watched it i wasn't really blown away. also between the 2 songs that were nominated, i thought the other should have won.
i might have to watch the film again

The La La Land song that won is horrible. Its barely a song, its just a couple of bars they repeat for the whole fucking film.

ah it's not a winner but it's not horrible, there is a 4 minute version. "fools who dream" is better

Trainspotting 2 didn't really do it for me unfortunately.
Being knackered didn't help.

going through the oscar nominated movies i haven't seen
this is one of the stranger ones:
predicted a fair bit of it, and it felt like it should have ended 3 or 4 times, but entertaining none the less. not sure if it's supposed to be playing up to french stereotypes, but it does a good job of it

Captain Fantastic
Couldn't wait for this to be over tbh, it's fairly obnoxious and very sentimental. I like Vigo Mortensen but he's playing a poorly realised character here. Don't know why I expected a less cutesy tone. I might have enjoyed it more if I wasn't exhausted.

Was impressed by Logan. It has a lot going on and it manages to keep its balance throughout.
Reminded me of Midnight Special a bit.
It's the first Wolverine movie that I've enjoyed, shame Jackman is (supposedly) giving up the role, he's great here. Stephen Merchant is a bit rubbish.
