It was great craic Jason, our feet were red raw from all the walking as there was so, so much to see. Istanbul is a vegetarians paradise, Mezze Platters, gob smackingly good kebabs, well they are called kebaps in Turkey. When it comes to road safety, health and safety goes out window heh heh. Trams, buses coming at ya from every which way, scooters and bikers mounting the footpaths for a quick short cut, fucking hell jesus. The taxi drivers are simply insane, my sister decided at one point to go to the Galata region which meant that the driver wold have to go through rush hour traffic to get there. No problem what does he do, but reverses at full speed on a busy roundabout till he comes to the appropriate road jeeeeeeez.
We couldnt stop snapping at mosques, absolutely gorgeous buildings it makes Ireland finest cathedrals look like quaint jacks and THATS only the calligraphy. There weather was fairly gorgeous although there is a fair amount of smog in Istanbul considering theres a population of around 12.5 million people, so a lot of hazy sunshine. Our first full day on Saturday 14th there was a tremendous rain storm like Ive never seen, it was such a fucking buzz. Because we lived in the Galata region it was the highest point in the city so the rain was like a raging torrent practically coming down vertical at you, I was so, so soaked but it was a thrilling experience, Ireland would have just washed off into the sea. Ok dudes more photos coming, will remember bits here and there so will keep ya updated.
