Primaveras

Do you play in a band and what to share your music? Are you listening to a particularly excellent artist and you want to spread the word? Or have you created a particularly amazing Spotify playlist and you want to share it? If so, post it here. Any great gigs happening?
Anyone else going to the Porto Primavera?

Know me and Casino are. Can't wait to see Slowdive!

Casino's avoiding this thread, I wonder if I'll run into him. Will definitely call him Casino if I do.

Clashes don't seem too bad for me, Pixies/Godspeed You Black Emperor and The National/Dum Dum Girls seem the worst

Speedy Ortiz and St Vincent is the only clash for me, I saw Speedy Ortiz last week but I don't actually know much of St Vincent's music so will have to work that one out on the day.

Kendrick and Pixies are my two must sees, I've seen the National loads before and the other ones I'm big into I've seen once. Oh and Cloud Nothings

Should be good craic now!

Got back from Porto yesterday evening. Great festival. Not really one for going on a mad one at but the music, layout, facilities (bar the lack of toilets, which was never even a problem really) were top notch. Saw everyone I wanted to and loads more I was half interested in, most everyone was great:

Sky Ferreira (knew nothing of her but she was good craic)
Haim (knew a couple of tunes, they were brilliant craic. Really rocked it)
Kendrick Lamar (fucking brilliant, one of the best gigs I've been to in years. Crowd was massively up for it, he seemed taken aback by them)
Jagwar Ma (knew nothing of them before and they were savage. New favourite band and all that. Would recommend catching them if they're at a festival. Or even their own gig)

Warpaint (grand, looked like touring or heroin has gotten the better of them though. My cousin shifted one of them before)
Slowdive (not my cup of tea but they were pretty good. Probably great if you're a fan)
Pixies (were Pixies. They could come out and shite in a bucket and I'd probably have lapped it up. As it happens they played 30-odd songs and were class. Stormed through them seamlessly. Still no Alec Eiffel :( )
Mogwai (again, I knew nothing, they fairly rock out though, big sound, good gig)
Todd Terje (second time I've seen him in two weeks and I remember clearly about 15 minutes of the two gigs. Good craic though!)

John Grant (Quality. Puts on some show and he's got good oul tunes too)
The National (I'll never get sick of seeing them. Was similar to their O2 show in November but probably felt like more energy cos were standing, at a festival, in a great crowd. Brilliant.)
Speedy Ortiz (Great as ever. Fuck all at them but at least the crowd were more into it than the Workman's. And she was showing a bit of arse cheek too which was great)
St Vincent. (Half passed out half listened to this on a hill, sounded good enough)
!!! (Absolutely SAVAGE. As much fun as you could have at a gig, largely driven by the frontman. He came out in a blouse and a pair of short shorts and just leaped about the place dancing like a clown for the whole show. Sort of thing that could look wank, but he pulled it off. Don't think I've ever laughed as much at a gig (in a good way)
Cloud Nothings (rocked the fuck out. Threw some shapes in the moshpit. Crowd was gone nuts. The band just blew everyone away. Probably have my fave album of the year too. Think I lost my shirt towards the end, probably elbowed Mr. K in the chops)

Apartment was a in this suburb south of the (massive) river so didn't see too much of the city, it's absolutely beautiful though. People are really friendly. Taxi drivers are sound oul lunatics for their driving and other things. Would have liked to have had a proper night out in the city but my mates I went with are in their mid-thirties and were all tuckered out by the time I got there. No harm, had a great time anyway, would recommend it to anyone who's into their music

It was class indeed, Slowdive were my highlight. Agreed on the taxi drivers, they're mentalists.

I stayed right in the middle of the city, if I was going again (and I think I will), I'd stay in the same place. Love Porto.

We were staying in Vila Nova de Gaia, it's kind of a redeveloped trendy area on the southside. Would definitely have preferred to stay in the city centre, I'd say most people at the festival were able to find somewhere there as well

Didn't get elbowed during it but the back of my head is still bruised! Don't know how that happened. Sorry for not going out on the Sunday, just couldn't handle it after destroying myself the previous few days.

I wonder if I saw either of yous, don't actually know what you look like.

Was wearing a Liverpool top on Friday, got asked for drugs about 5 times at Todd terje alone. Wonder if its cause they knew I'd speak English, or if I look like a drug dealer.

Did yous have a francesinha?

That's me on the left. I showed up in some official video from the festival too, well odd.

I had a francesinha on Sunday, probably what caused me to go home early. The one I had was awful, swimming in some weird spicy, sugary sauce. The lads said it was the worst one they'd tasted.

I had one as my first meal in the country, tasty but rich as fuck.

I didn't see anyone around who looked like they might have had drugs, must have been the Liverpool top!

Only Irish persons I met there were the guy who owns Anseo and his missus, and a lad at the airport on the way home.

Didn't find the crowd at the festival to be too interested in mingling, how'd ye find them?

Ah no worries, we hit it pretty hard during the day, around midnight one of the lads wanted to go back to the apartment to get his jacket (eugh), and on the taxi on the way back the two decided they'd had enough so we turned for home. Bit annoyed cos I didn't get a proper night out in the place that wasn't at the festival but sure fuck it.

Guy we met in the airport told us his apartment was directly above the club that had the Primavera after parties, starting at 6am and finishing at 11am. Would have been all over that if I'd known about it!

Our first night in Porto we destroyed the place. Brilliant. Annoyed that I didn't get to go out properly after that.

Ahaha! I wonder where that was?

I'll do a full write-up tomorrow, try and remember as much as I can.
