As I said in WOYM, not a chance I'd go to a gig in phoenix park after being at Pixies and RHCP there. Well not unless I stop being a lazy bastard and go in early or they reduce the numbers. Was half a mile from the stage and the sound was terrible.

Yeah that Pixies gig was godawful. Left before RHCP came on. Worst waste of money ever and I own a HD-DVD player.

I remember being in the pit and loving the Pixies. Wasn't that gig 7 years ago? Surely they'll sort out this problem with the sound.

Dont remember there being another open air gig since then though.
I think the main problem with the pixies/rhcp one was that I was so far back. Dont know how many thickets there was for it but I've never been so far from a stage. Was a huge time delay from what you could see and the muffled sound that eventually reached you.

Think Coldplay and Robbie Williams have played there since RHCP.

The capacity for that gig was around 70,000 iirc.

The Chilis and Pixies was supposed to have been 120,000. Think they sold most of them too

I was up near the front of the pit so was happy out

Slane would have been a million times better than Phoenix Park.

Would have been more expensive for the same show. Sure isn't Slane meant to be very hit and miss anyway?

Also a massive pain in the arse to get to/from.

It is a massive pain to get in and out of but they'd have had a full day of bands and its just a much better venue for actually watching a band. Its really the only place in the country that suits such a big crowd.

any word on who might be supporting? To see them in Phoenix Park and for that price I'd hope for 2 or 3 really decent support acts too.
