finding it much harder to lose than i used to as well but that could be an age thing.
Hows being of the smokes going for you? apart from the waistline.
grand actually. the only time it bothers me is around 8pm/9pm, all day i'm grand.

i didn't even make a conscious decision to give them up. I really just didnt feel like smoking after nye and decided to pack them in.

i was smoking like a train before xmas with college...about 10-15 a day which was huge for me. I think they actually make you more stressed and anxious than actually helping anything.

i will still have a few smokes when i'm drinking though. i was off them for a few years and did this quite successfully.

mojo i hope you don't think this a bit preachy but you should tackle the smoking & drinking thing head on now.

it's the only way to quit completely.

when you've been out drinking a dozen times and you've not had a cigarette on any of those occasions it's a massive boost and it gives you the confidence to keep on doing it.

haha, cheers anyhow, its the same sort of info I was looking for, haven't smoked since new year but I'm going out for the first time since then tonight. Always smoke loads when I drink and the gaff we're going to first I left 20 smokes there over Xmas and they kept them for me, so all the signs ain't good.

maybe i will try eric...i know its a cop out continuing to be a social smoker

i just enjoy the indulgence of a glass of wine and a cigarette

without it, it would feel like having a slice of bread with no butter

also i enjoy the chat and camaraderie of the smoking area. maybe i could get one of those vape or e cig things

I've a LOAD of mates who have 'quit' recently.

except they haven't.

they're either a) smoking when they drink b) smoking e-cigarettes c) smoking dope

these lads are codding themselves. but they genuinely tell me they've quit and 'fags disgust them now'. that may well be the case but they've still using a crutch.

best way - the only way imo - is just to throw yourself into it. go boozing and torture yourself with the cravings and everything but just hold back every time, talk yourself outta it.

it's crap and those nights out will probably be ruined a fair bit - they were for me anyway - but the long term benefits are worth it.

i don't think i could afford to smoke any more!! once you stop handing the money over for a while you realise how much it actually costs!!

I have to agree with Mojo with the whole drink and smoke going hand in hand and I love hanging out in smoking areas. Smokers are just cooler and better craic than non smokers.

I've smoked 3 times since giving up 3 years ago and every time I was blind drunk. It's like i forgot I didn't smoke.. I didn't finish any of them either, it disgusted me

i always wonder what would happen if i smoked one. I'd hope for the same reaction as you zook but I'd say it's quite likely I'd devour a fucking whole packet.

i shant be taking the risk, not just yet.

It's potentially a dangerous move but one of the things I did on my final and ultimately successful attempt at quitting was I went outside for smoke breaks and the social aspect of it, but just didn't smoke.

Nobody cares if you're not smoking and very few people will even notice.

I'm going to give it a go again after this weekend. Last Christmas exam tomorrow, as mojo said I wouldn't be able to give them up whilst at crunch exam/assignment time.

We'll see how it goes.

Same here, woke up dying on new years day and could barely drink water nevermind smoke and I just haven't been arsed since. It's been surprisingly easy, though I haven't drank since either...

It's weird though, it's the first time I've been off em where I literally haven't been thinking about them at all.

I'm now off them 844 days and have saved about £3500.

I no longer need the app on my phone for motivation but I still have it there.
