Duck Army doesn't hit the heights of "all the way up my gowl" OR Castletown Donkey Derby, but it may well be video of the year.

Was just coming on to post about that too. It's on the cover of the Examiner tomorrow, with a strongly worded editorial citing it as entirely justifed to bring home the seriousness of what's going on out there.

Can't say I disagree tbh.

Saw figures that we only accepted 130 asylum seekers last year. that figure needs to be X100 this year.

I remember looking at stats of numbers received vs population size relative to government income last year and thinking that Italy, Poland, and Hungary really need to up their game. But those stats only looked at the amount that that choose to live there, not who pass through.
Italy have their own share of local problems and are receiving the biggest influx, but then don't want to know about it so long as they pass on through.
Most aren't going to want to go all the way to Ireland and Sweden when Germany is closer, so percentage accepted tells the best picture.
It's really one of those multi-national problems that needs to be tackled as such, but the only EU-wide agreement on the matter i've seen has been an agreement to work together to use military/naval force against human traffickers.

I thought this was fantastic from the weekend:

Photos from, in a few cases, the ultras sections (of all places) in just about every german home game last weekend.

yeah that was pretty class
can't really understand what hungry are doing tbh. if germany have said that they'll take them, why are they stopping refugees (who have paid for train tickets) from boarding trains? i know they're applying the law, but it doesn't make sense if there is a country ready and willing to accept them

it's all putin's fault anyway. never thought i'd agree with the british pm, but this is not actually fixing the problem. the source needs to be sorted

It is in it's bollix Putin's fault. He didn't arm the rebels in Syria, or allow ISIS to form and initially give them weapons/funding. That was all the US.

Putin didn't remove Gaddafi from power in Libya, that was the US/UK/EU.

putin is the reason Assad is still in power, and that's where most of the people stuck in hungry have come from. nothing to do with gaddafi or libya, but yeah obviously the US/UK are the sources of the current issues here.

Yeah but at this stage if Assad left power surely that means ISIS taking over more territory and it's not like that's going to stop the flow of refugees. Horribly messy situation and I don't think at this stage you can say Putin pulling support would help.

Whilst I'm not advocating Assad being in power, if he wasn't there Isis would be in complete control of Syria and it would be a million times worse. The crisis isn't limited to the people arriving from Syria, there are thousands of people trying to get across the Mediterranean from Libya by boat. Read Phier's link above. 1000s have died this year alone trying to get to Italy from Libya

The current agreed figure for this year is 600. I can see that being increased soon.
