No power in our area since noon yesterday. Roof came off the GAA club down the road as well as the school I was teaching in last year that Dara posted a video of. Actually the three schools I've been in most recently have been hit pretty badly by the storm.

Was the school that lost the roof just prefabs, or just built poorly?

Any idea how strong the winds were down there at their peak?

Think it was a new enough roof off their gymnasium in Douglas.

Strongest gust recorded yesterday was 191km/h at Fastnet Rock, which is off the coast of Cork... which is fucking crazy.
But that seemed to be a complete outlier compared to all others.

Fastnet Lightnouse 191km/h
Roches Point 156km/h
Kinsale Platform 141km/h
Waterford Airport 137 km/h
Sherkin Island 135km/h (before loss of power)
Cork Airport 126km/h (before loss of power)
Shannon Airport 122km/h
Casement Airport 117km/h
Johnstown Castle 115km/h
Oak Park 111km/h
Malin Head 104km/h
Gurteen 102km/h
Grange 106km/h
Dublin Airport 104km/h

Yeah it was a fairly flimsy thing really, the usual corrugated iron thing you'd have on school gyms. Landed nearby in someone's garden, crazy that no one was hurt.

I was thinking about that after Zook posted hers, a very brief look didn't find that one but I found this.
Just wait for it for the one with the kids on the decking

Being an adult is tough. Putting in new fence posts is way way tougher than it looks.

Well, putting them in is easy enough. Digging holes deep enough that they won't fall over not so much.

So not only does Paul Draper go and anounce his Dublin show for 3 days before my kid is due but to rub salt in the wound he anounces he's going to play Attack of the Grey Lantern in full at the gig.
