Had it spoiled for me by a toilet graffitist, but the moment the Mountain confessed still got me to say Fucking Hell out loud at a tv show for probably the 2nd time ever (the first being Crawl Space from Breaking Bad).
More brutal than the Red or Purple weddings IMO.
yeah I forgot about the whole eye gouging and when I read it, when he said he smashed his head in, I imagined it to be punching him repeatedly, rather than the way it was. I had a re-read of the chapter after watching it,and they got it spot on

Im really warming to Gillen as well for some reason, I think he has been brilliant the last few episodes, and he at least gave a bit of an explanation for the changing of his accents
Great description of the scene from the AV Club's TV review section:
The Mountain performs a manual Scanners routine

Littlefinger is low-born so when he was in Kings Landing or talking to anyone important, he sounds more noble, but when he's talking to Sansa its his real accent coming out coz he's just a simple lad from d'cuntry

well that was every bit as gruesome as I had imagined it was going to be. Oberyn was brilliant. Im as pissed off about losing him in the show as I was when it happened in the books. Great casting
I was eating lasagne when that happened :(
This has been easily the best season I think. Just pure drama week by week, hardly a quiet episode.

not surprising really, since its really the second half of the third book. The third had been the best so far as well.

Game of Thrones
Fuck me, that was brutal. Knew what was coming from the books but it was still mental when it happened, heart breaking. Oberyn was such a class character in the books, maybe even better in the show. Was sceptical of the casting in episode 1 but from the Purple Wedding onwards he was fantastic.

Dany's bit was that setting's best bit in ages, probably the only interesting thing this whole season.

Don't think it's a spoiler to say the next couple of episodes should be just as good as this one!
Get the eggs, get the flan in the face, the flan in the face, flan in the face, dance you fucker, dance you fucker, don't you dare, don't you dare, don't you, flan in the face

GOT

I wasn't crazy about that episode
The fight was a bit WWE. Dominate all allong, clearly way better then get caught out right at the end because you're too cocky. Yeah the head squashing was brutal but big whoop.

The wall is boring. Danys stuff is boring and shes getting to be a really annoying character. Oh and the translator and the worm fella love each other, wow the excitement.

Arya nearly meets a family member, again. She better go inside that place now. Makes zero sense if they just turn around.

I did like what was going on with Petr and Sansa but Aiden Gillen is killing that stuff. He's fucking terrible. The stupid villainous smirk when Sansa lied to save him. And his accent went full Bane this week.

Bane is both more understandable and less annoying than Aidan Gillen.

Teaser for next week's GoT

It's titled The Watchers on the Wall so I reckon they might do a Blackwater and have it take place entirely beyond the wall.

Would make sense to leave a mystery over what's going to happen with Tyrion after the trial too.

you are a tough crowd sometimes. that was a pretty exciting episode by anyones standards!
i had figured that the mountain would win because rr martin breaks the mould in terms of underdogs. Still I couldn't watch for the head popping! jaysus. they have ended every episode on high drama...the writers have done a pretty amazing job with so many intertwining strands imo, of course there are going to be lulls in some character stories

yeah but football people give out more than normal people!
i think it covered a shit load as far as plot development and excitement....the wildlings bit, the greyjoy stuff, the bit with greyworm and your one(had to squeeze an oul arse into the episode somewhere!), sansa and little finger, and then obviously the big showpiece scene at the end. Was great imo

id say it will go down as the third best/memorable episode after the 2 weddings

Squeezing in shit loads of bits is the problem.
Twice to Danys story and one of those times was to watch the Greyworm and your wan. That was awful. The bit with Jorah was alright but again made Dany even less likeable.

The wall stuff was terrible, all building to next week obviously but it doesn't stop it being dull as fuck now. I hope Sams girlfriend gets killed, what annoying fuck she is.

Alfie Allen and the whole Theon/Reek plot is just woeful. Ramsey is the only thing making that bit bearable.

I like the story in the Sansa/Littlefinger bit at the moment but Aiden Gillen is sort of ruining that.

And then the big ending which was good but predictable and I'd have like a lot more time spent in Kings landing building up to it.

GoT
I'd agree with Eucrid, they should have had more of a build up to the fight. Sure the first time you see either of them is just as it starts. It was a great ending, but not a great episode. Shame to see Oberyn go too cause he was a brilliant character.

GOT
The greyworm story is annoying me.
but I dont think they could have built up to the fight any more, what was there to build up? They are fighting, its as simple as that. They could have talked a bit but that would have been filler.

I really like the reek/snow storyline.

There were also some things that happened that could be massive in the future. I dont know if thats because I've read the books (even though I forget half of them at this stage} but Im surprised more people arent talking about them

Book spoiler (sorta)
No one has really mentioned that the mountain has admitted killing martell and her kids. Thats the first time someone from the lannister side has ever admitted it went down like that. I just thought more people watching the show would cop that and question what it will mean
