Well it'd be dead dragon that yer man raised up I think. Not a dragon breathing ice, I imagine.

Anyway, yeah I think it would be crap

I left all fan forums and subreddits last year anyway, too much fan theory and speculation whilst waiting for the next book. And I read about the battle of the bastards about a year before it happened (as a theory) but whoever put it up was obviously a fucking extra or something because he described in detail the whole episode. I realised a few mins in that I'd read it and it ruined it for me, so I have no clue whats going to happen this season, which will be new in a GoT season for me
.

This year was the first time I checked the GOT subreddit, I always stayed away from online chat about it and I got a big spoiler that I wish I hadn't, you probably know it though, to do with Jon Snows da? Seems to be common knowledge on that subreddit anyway.

Well they revealed who his ma was and that his da wasn't Ned but they didn't explicitly reveal who the da was in the show at least.

Didn't realise they did in the books, I thought it was because of some family tree thing that HBO released that confirmed it.

Ah its been figured out since the first book came out, so around 20 odd years. Because of the way Ned spoke about Rhaegar in his inner monologue, people figured out that he didnt kidnap Lyanna like Robert said, and that they were really in love. Then there was a few clues in Brans dreams after he got pushed off the roof.

GoT
Great, we're finally going to see Casterly Rock.

Here's the illustration from that book I mentioned. It's where the Lannisters get their lion sigil.

So who is there? Anyone we know?

And will we get to see it? Surely that whole plan is fucked now.

Maybe, but Grey Worm and the lads were sailing in the other direction so they'll surely still get there before more shit goes down.

One thought I had after the first episode was how close Dragonstone is to Kings Landing. It's basically in Blackwater Bay, which Kings Landing is at the end of
I found it pretty ridiculous that Dany arrived at Dragonstone with a massive fleet and then Euro rolled into Kings Landing with his fleet (that he magically rebuilt in a few episodes). They would have had to pass Dragonstone to get to Kings Landing. Dany is able to cut off Kings Landing by sea with the size of her fleet now, but she let yer man and his ships pass?

The size and power of Euron... outta nowhere at the end of last season, was a bit of a bugbear for me anyway, but i hadn't read the books, so just thought maybe he'd featured more heavily in those all along.

"It's a new one" made me cringe and want to rip my skin off

All the other cameos - even Gary Lightbody who was also singing - were handled with subtlety

Same here.
If Dany doesn't use like *one* dragon to just burn his fleet to the ground before she enacts her 'big plan', then what is the fucking point of having the dragons?

he comes out of nowhere in the books as well and takes power in the iron islands. he'd been banished and his is the best pirate/sailor in the world blah blah blah. He has a big fucking horn that can kill/summon/control dragons apparently. He is crowned king of hte Iron islands by having some slave blow this horn and the noise is so powerful they make him King ahead of Theon's sister. Then you learn what a bastard he is (raped his own brother and shit)

I think he is quite prominent in the forthcoming books, he might even be a POV character.

Well balls to that so, cos we did a deadpool in work here, and i picked him.

This horn he has for dragons sounds like he's going to stick around longer than i'd hoped for.

Definitely, it didn't help that even the likes of Tyrion's stories were so tedious too, couldn't have gotten through that shit on top of it! Dorne was boring and confusing too, the last thing you needed was for him to just throw 10 or so entirely forgettable and interchangeable characters in down there. All with the same names too.

Re: GoT episode 3
Enjoying this season, I think my main criticism of the last couple of seasons would be that things weren't quite making sense a lot of the time, certainly not as much as the writer's thought it was e.g. Littlefinger giving Sansa to Ramsey, Arya's storyline, Jon Snow being killed and resurrected and no-one really caring, etc. - things that could have been explained away as just trying to get the plot to where it needs to be, which is a problem adapting the books in itself.

But this season the pacing and also the resolutions to some storylines, people meeting etc. has been satisfying for me. If they keep it up (only 10 episodes left?) then it could still have a decent end run.

I'm interested to hear what the White Walkers have to say! I had a theory at the end of season 2, before I really started reading stuff online, that it would turn out the White Walkers were the gods, or one group of gods, and the squabbles between humans in Westeros would be just a small part of the picture. Like in a Final Fantasy game or something. A clear theme of the show is that people and they power structures they've created are all somewhat evil anyway, and people can do some fucked up things. But then just seemed less and less likely and I forgot about it. But now I'm thinking maybe GRRM's just done a good job leading us on for so long! Anyway, I'm back to thinking now that the show/books have to give the Night King a POV or backstory or something, it wouldn't be like it to just have them as a black and white hero/villain showdown with Jon or Danaerys?

GOT - ep3
the pace is really flying at the moment. The raids on both casterlyrock and highgarden would have taken an episode each in seasons past. Hopefully we get one massive battle before the end of this season.
The writers really have the end in sight and have to tie up plots & position characters for it.
