First album I remember having was Now 20 on double cassette, but I think it might have been a present. It had "Dizzy" by Vic Reeves on it. Class.

I don't really remember buying singles.

My first gig was Placebo in the Ulster Hall.

it was either Nirvana's greatest hits (although that might have been a present) or one of three, Limp Bizkit - Chocolate Starfish...., Papa Roach - Infest, or Sum 41 - All Killer No Filler

Kerrang had me back then

1st gig was Coldplay in Marley Park

Haha I was surprised nobody else had, thread title says first musical purchases, surely gig tickets are the main musical purchase!

The Paul Simon gig my parents brought us, and they got free tickets from a friend who actually knew the guy. That was pretty cool for a 9 year old.

First gig I went to was the first day of Oxegen 2005 I think. Kerbdog, Eagles of Death Metal, Kaiser Chiefs, Snoop Dogg, Queens of the Stoneage, Bloc Party, Mylo and the Prodigy. Great stuff.

First album was the FIFA 2000 soundtrack. Massive Attack, Placebo, Mansun, Feeder and some other decent tunes on there. I was 11 years old.

First band's album was Cypress Hill - Skull & Bones.

I'd been listening to my brother's tapes and CDs since I was 6 or 7 though, he had everything. Those were my first purchases web I finally got my own Discman (and minidisc player :D)

First gig was Pixies supporting the Chilis in the Phoenix Park. 2004

There'll be no bad-mouthing mini-disc players or I'm deleting this thread.

First album was Pearl Jam Ten.
Bought on tape with my birthday money.

It was a toss up between that and Suedes first album which was being massively hyped before it even came out at the time.
