Ow, CBS is on the way and i'm getting a heads up when the Bourbon aged Péché Mortel is available.
And BrewDog's bar is opening next Friday.
Winter's shaping up nicely.

The Brewdog bars are a let down in my experience.

Yeah you get a good spread of their own stuff, guest draft stuff can be a little weak. Expectations do put the bar pretty high.

I've been in quite a few in the UK and once they had some real good Ballast Point on draft, rest of the time it was only ok.

Otherwise I'd prefer the Galway Bay Brewing places. They don't have nearly as wide a distribution and they seem to be putting out as much if not more pilot brews.

Irish brewing has improved so much in the last 3 years

Yeah I'd say too that GBB are making better beer than Brewdog, especially their pilot stuff. And the bars have way more guest taps.

Agree on Irish brewing. I think the expansions of breweries like GBB and 8 Degrees have really upped the quality of their beers and the bigger, new breweries like Wicklow Wolf and Rye River are really good too.

Wicklow Wolf had some beautiful trial brews pouring from a kegerator (sp?) at the Irish Craft Beer fair in the RDS a Coconut Porter that tasted as good as you'd hope and a surprisingly good Oak Aged IPA. No names on either so they may never get mass produced.

Do Rye River do their own branded stuff? The Crafty stuff is v good for the price, but McGagrles was poor. May have to try them again though, because the very first bottle of Full Sail I tried years ago was awful.

McGargles IPA is nice. Think Rye River do Lidl's crafter beer selection. It's tasty enough

McGargles have really picked up. I used to hate them too but had a few of their beers at a fest and was won over. The Francis Big Banging IPA is really great.

Wicklow Wolf just got a massive investment too are expanding again. Planning to add 20 new jobs and start exporting pretty seriously.

Speaking of kegerators I just added a second tap to mine this morning. :ugeek:

McGargles have always been one of the better Irish craft brewers. The big bangin IPA has actually been about for ages and it really is great. Drank it one night on draft all night, was in absolute bits the day after, strong wee fuck of a brew. They also do the entry level cheap IPAs for Dunnes called grafters, very nice for the price.

They do the crafty range in Lidl too. I tasted some of their stuff when it first came out and it was poor. They've gotten way better though. I think there is a steep early learning curve for people starting their own brewery.

A mate did some work for them early on when they had issues with their water quality so that certainly wouldn't have helped.

Definitely. Sure I even add different salts, etc to my water when I'm making beer at home.

I put in an order with drinkstore this week and they've started doing replacements when they're out of stock on beers. I find that a bit cheeky.

Like Tesco do. So I ordered Firestone Walker Pivo Pils and they sent me Sierra Nevada Hoppy Pils. I also ordered an 8 Degrees Galaxy IPA and was sent an 8 Degrees DIPA.
