I'm on Boston in January, think we're going to go skiing somewhere just outside it for a couple of days. Never been before but they do specific beginner taster days and it's less than an hour from Boston city.

Skiing in the States is a very different experience to the European resorts. No real après ski as such and loads of young American jock types thinking they're great, seemed to be very few beginners as compared to European resorts.

It's much more of a social thing in Europe, I found. I must clarify that I would never begrudge anyone enjoying themselves and having the craic on their holidays, it was the season workers (seasonaires, eugh) who wrecked my head over there. People doing 'wacky' stuff and acting the bollocks 'cos I'm on my gap year, innit'. Those twats

yeah i've heard they are dicks alright

any americans i've encountered in Austria have been gobshites. Cutting close by you at speed etc. And one of them slagging my friend for snow ploughing one year (it was her first day skiing!)

i've only ever went to austrian resorts and can't say i've experienced that much. Most of the instructor/worker types tended to be local and genuinely nice people. A mix of old ond young. And the general ski crowd in Austria tend to be just everyday, down to earth folk, doesn't get any of the bourgeoisie i imagine you would get in some of the french/swiss resorts

We've bought lights and decorations but are waiting on the tree to be dropped in on Friday or Saturday. I really hope it isn't a whopper tree as it just won't fit in our sitting room.
