if there is a more overrated group than duran duran on this planet, i'd like to hear who it is.

surefire proof that all that coke in the 80s really did fuck with people's heads.

I made a thread like this before. My most overrated bands are QOTSA and Sonic Youth. I like the both of them fine, especially QOTSA who have some great songs, but their fans go on about them like theyre the best thing ever. I dont get it

QOTSA and sonic youth have some deadly songs, though. so you can at least see why their fans are so into them, because they have some good stuff.

duran duran - and i know these things are subjective - their tunes are just so bland to me. simon le bon's voice is really joyless. they seem like a bunch of boring cunts too.

just cant see any merit in the group. it just seems that lots of women fancied them in the 80s. but it disappoints me when i see them mentioned in a credible conversation about music.

AF are probably one of my all-time favourite bands.

funeral is a top five album for me without question . maybe even top three.

Tame Impala lads. I've gone off that new album big time.

(Re: Sonic Youth, I was utterly obsessed with them for years and could see why you'd think they were overrated. I'm the same with Pearl Jam, just don't get it and I think we've had this argument before.)

Went back to 'Funeral' last month. Was nearly in tears after 'Neighbourhood No.1', so unbelievably good.

one of very few albums i can listen to in it's entirety, and then put back on straight away again for another full listen.

blimey that is a change of heart.

what has changed your mind?

i listened to it over the weekend - only once - and i think it has some great singles, works well as a full album but there is some filler on there too. a few background tunes.

I know this is near heresy around these parts but Sigur Ros.

And I'm with Mr. K on Pear Jam too, I don't dislike them but I've never warmed to Eddie Vedders voice.

As far as Duran Duran go, i love Save a Prayer and Ordinary World

I sold something on eBay to a guy named Simon Le Bon recently. I wonder if it was the same one lol

Maybe I've listened to it too much over the last while but there's too much filler and the lyrics are shocking at times. 'Cause I'm a Man' is utterly cringeworthy, same as 'Past Life'. Excellent keyboard sounds and two or three really good songs but it is lightweight enough stuff.

yeah i agree to an extent mr k. still think it's a passable album but i probably would only go and see him at a festival, not sure i would be too pushed on going to an actual show.

listened to sufjan stevens' most recent album again over the weekend. now there's a good example of someone who did absolutely nothing for me when i first heard him years ago but now i would seem to have finally 'got it' and i think he's made one of the best albums of the past decade or so.

Tame Impala are class lads. Not lyrically though.

Arcade Fire are shocking, the most boring live act I've ever seen. About 4 good songs in their career
Interpol are shite too, another unbelievably dull band.

Spot on.

I've never eaten a burrito that I've liked. They're like a feeding trough in your hand. It's a mess.

I love slow roasted pork shoulder but that BBQ sauce that people use on pulled pork is nasty shite a lot of the time.
