Official Gym Thread
A couple of mates of mine did that a while back, they'd both be quite fit and in good shape. One of them got sick on the first day. Said it was fine though after about a week. They'd done two weeks when I was chatting to them last, must ask them how they found the rest of it/ if they finished it
Get the eggs, get the flan in the face, the flan in the face, flan in the face, dance you fucker, dance you fucker, don't you dare, don't you dare, don't you, flan in the face
Starting to get a bit nervous, I should really be asleep already. Will report back tomorrow, hopefully I'll do alright!
Toughest thing I've ever done in my life, course is much tougher than Dublin. My splits are pretty bad, 2nd half nearly 20 minutes slower. Had to stop and walk repeatedly after 14 miles.
Personal best at least, 3:48:09 according to my watch. 3:30 pavers are just too fast for me over 26 miles.

Just keep going, you'll get back to where you were a lot quicker than it took to get there the first time!

Well done Dwayne!
Looking at yoga myself data, always had problems with my flexibility and it leads to various injuries

Superb time Dwayne.
Is Dublin relatively flat?

Apparently it actually has more elevation than Derry, it's just more gentle. Seems to have a lot of small climbs, whereas Derry has 2 massive ones and a couple other fuckers (including after 25 miles, which I thought was a joke).
Was chatting to a guy who was going for the over 70s Irish record today. he was running in the 3:30 pacer group. Lost him when I dropped off at 14 miles, but that's pretty fucking impressive.....under 3:30 at 71 years old!

I was up in Derry today too, didn't even click the marathon was the one you did!
I did a 10k a couple of weeks back, did the first 5k in 24 minutes which was a bit harder than I was planning to go out, but I was holding it fine, then after 7.5km there was a hill like something out of hell. Absolutely killed me and I ended up finishing in about 53 minutes.
I can only imagine what a hill after 25 miles of a marathon would do to me!

i did my 3rd 10k of the year this morning, the plan was to do under 50m but my back/side has been at me for the past 2 weeks
decided to simply do it at a consistent 5.30/k as anything faster was painful enough, ended up doing 53.59 when i was thinking i'd struggle to even finish
delighted that i can now do sub 55 minutes without even pushing myself

very disheartening
It was like th guy (who looked exactly like a yoga instructor from tbe simpsons would) was mocking me with some of tbe contorted shit he was doing.stateofyouboy wrote:

They're looking for pacers for DCM (saw it mentioned on boards).....I dunno if I'd be right for it at all, but thinking of offering to do 4:30 or 4:40.

I think they need you to have run a certain amount of Marathons at much quicker paces. Id say for 4:30, they might need you to have done 3:30
I could be wrong of course
I could be wrong of course

For 4:30, they say to run a sub 4:00 recently, and for 4:40 a sub 4:05. Recent sub 3:30 time if you want to be a 4:00 pacer, it seems.
4:30 would be slightly longer than 10 minute miles, I think I could well manage it. The problem would be to try and hit that each mile, of course.

Jesus yeah, my timing is all over the place. Ye would be well able for it
Training for DCM starts in 3 weeks myself, dunno what time to aim for, maybe 3:45.
What was your goal time for Derry, what did you train for again?
