Reactions on Sunday:

McGregor wins: everyone will say Floyd threw the fight in order to cash in on a rematch.

Mayweather wins: everyone will say of course he did, he was always going to win and anyone who thought different is a fool who wuz robbed, and the two of them are laughing at you.

Unless it's an absolute war with some outrageous, dramatic result on either side.

In any case, the ref will have done something mental and everyone will disagree on whether it affected the outcome or not.

It depends on the nature of the win for McGregor

1st round Knockout and it'll be ring rust/lucky punch/age affecting Mayweather.

I'm interested to see how it plays out. The whole thing is a farce anyway, can't believe people are buying into it so hard.

Still seemingly tickets available to watch it at the arena, but then charging 2 grand for a ticket at the back was probably going to do that

Edit - just looked. There's loads of seats available, not even close to being sold out. $2500 + $160 fees to sit in the back row of the upper bowl. $10,000 + $665 to sit in the lower bowl

yeah but its still going to be the biggest gate of all time. By setting the price so high, they took out the tout/official reselling websites like Seatwave

A ticket analyst went through it in detail and said they've ensured they are earning maximum revenue from tickets sales despite not being at capacity (they can announce it's sold out whenever they want anyway)

The likes of Seatwave and Viagogo are going mental because they've been taken out of the (very lucrative) market, and they have been putting out the stories about it not being sold out

$160-$665 in fees. What in the unmerciful fuck?

There's quite a few amateur and young "professional" fighters from the gym gone over but with zero hope of buying tickets. Hopefully it gets papered to fuck and they get sorted out.

Anyone feeling brave enough to call a win for McGregor here?

Owen Roddy is convinced he's going to knock Floyd out, and he's not prone to hyperbole apparently.

It's just not gonna happen. The great white hype
It would be amazing, but is mcgregor the one to succeed where no one else has before, in a sport he's never fought in professionally before? Is just so unlikely.
He'll be minted and I'll be happy for him. That's all this is really about

I want to call a McGregor win but I just can't. Mma boxing is just too different, it's much longer range and shorter combinations with jumping in and out (or mixing in takedowns, kicks, knees). boxing has more fighting in the pocket with longer combos to force openings and standing your ground.

My heart says he's going to do it. It'll be dirty though. Sapping Floyd's energy by making him carry Conor's weight in the clinch, boxing heavy through Floyd's own glove, maybe injure Mayweather with a Jones v Texiera style arm crank.

Too much of it depends on how it's reffed though and in my opinion the more influence the reffing can have the more of a bullshit sport it is.

There is some mad confidence in the gym among the pro team though. They've felt how hard Conor hits and they have no doubt that he'll win.

It was all a good show. Felt a bit sorry for mcgregor, but there are not really many ways to behave after a loss like that when you're game is built on smack talk
He's a wealthier man now. Fair play

edit: he goes with a 'i was grand it shouldn't be stopped' line

Well, retrospectively, that was always going to happen wasn't it. Good craic sitting up for it. Everyone left my house as soon as it was over except one person, we kept boozing. I got into bed around 11 I think.

Woke up howling at around 3pm; the rest of the day was an absolute car crash.

I left my mates pub at half 9. It was horrible walking out into Camden street and seeing a rake of people going along with their normal lives of a Sunday morning. Didnt wake up until 6pm when I had the mrs ringing me. Not in good books at the moment. I was fucking dying, didnt even attempt to eat yesterday

the fight itself went as I expected, ref didnt let any clinch go on for more than a few seconds, any that did Floyd kept showing his back to Conor yet received no sanctions from the ref. Conor's tank is a serious issue, he was gone by the end of the 4th. That's all Mayweather was waiting for. Fair play to McGregor though, not in any way should he have been in a ring with a boxer of the calibre of Mayweather for his first outing, yet there he was and claiming the biggest purse in boxing history too. Mental

Agh, it happens. My wife got up at 10 to go to Ikea with her mate, had porridge and coffee while we were still slamming cans of Guinness, not a bother on her <3

I've decided to drop down to row Lightweight this year so I can race the world champions in the Irish national championships next July. Only need to lose a bit over a stone or about 9 kilos
