Windy at times, very hot at others. I was grand 'cause it was an easy pace for myself, but if you were pushing yourself at all it would have been very difficult.

It was slowish/slightly up hill to 6 miles but from there to 13 it was down.
people got carried away and after that, it's a very long stretch for a bit. Wind and Sun came out then so at 18 when people like to kick on, there was nothing in the tank

In the 3 marathons I've raced, my 19th mile has been 9:09, 9:45 and 9:09. Definitely need to work on my leg strength, as it's always my thighs/calfs that give me problems around then. I can keep 8:00 pace no bother till about 16/17, goal next year is to manage it for a full marathon.

Went back playing 5-a-side this evening for the first time in over a year. Gasping after 10 minutes. I'm going to be sore tomorrow.

Just wondering how accurate it is, and if you can set up your own trainings.
I found an alternative though, but thanks anyway.

synced my endomondo from my phone with garmin there, good to get the history in. Nifty dashboards on the website. Got the forerunner 220 for xmas. loving it. Still bring the phone for listening, would rather something smaller but i use the audible app for audio books, dont think i can export them to a smaller mp3 player or something

A smart watch that actually had proper GPS (and didn't need to be tethered to a phone) and a decent battery would be great for running

does one exist?

although my forerunner/sansa clip combo isn't the worst

going to sign up for a half marathon at lunch. what's the minimum distance you'd need to be doing in advance to be able to do one on the day? i'm not looking to get any great time, just tick it off the list of things to do without putting in massive distances in preperation

might look at improving my swimming once i get this out of the way and move towards doing a sprint triathlon

Not that I know of.

I'd say if you were able to run 10 miles, you would be grand.

good stuff, that was the plan all along. build up from a 10km to a 16km run over the next 8 weeks

happy to do a long run like that once every week along with a faster paced 40 minute run

There's a fairly basic program if you wanted anything structured

I'm going to do a Marathon in the next year if my knees/achilles hold out. Think I'd regret not doing at least one in my life. Did 18k a few nights back and nearly died so plenty to work on

Also planning on getting into brazilian jiu jitsu. A mate started it a few months ago and he's flying it

I haven't read a single post on this thread, 'cause I'm a fat bastard.....but due to my fat bastardness, I am giving strong consideration to battling my intense social awkwardness and finally joining a gym.

Is it worth it? Honestly?

And by any chance does anyone have experience of the YMCA gym in Sandymount? It's the closest one to me and therefore the most appealing, as I don't wanna have to exert myself too much before even ariving at the shaggin' place......

If you're looking to lose weight, don't join a gym yet. Sort out your diet (which is where the issue lies) and go for a few runs

When you lose a bit you'll have the confidence to then join a gym
