So first headliner for Electric Arena announced, Belle & Sebastian for Friday night. I'm quite surprised this hasn't cropped up in the forum yet.

Shit I was hoping for a crap line-up, might have to go now! How long do people reckon the early bird tickets will be available for?

are people being saracastic here?

I've never understood the fuss over B&S at the best of times but they play pretty regularly and are often to be seen at many festivals.

I adore them. Sure enough they are a lil repetitive and haven't released much in a while, but they have so many amazing tunes.

yeah they're good but they're an underwhelming first announcement for any major festival IMHO.

I might go to EP this year if I get one of the cheaper tickets. None of my gang went last year though really, they all went to Body and Soul instead. That's the new standard now I'd say, EP is seen as too much cost and hassle and too much recognisable music to get in the way of partying.

It's worse for the partying they're getting as they get older. Sure how bad.

They're perfect for EP and haven't played here a whole lot in the last few years.

Well I wouldn't expect they're headlining. I've never been into them but they're exactly like the sort of thing I'd be expecting/hoping EP booked.

isn't the first announcement for any festival usually a headliner?

that's how I've always interpreted it anyway but then again i generally don't pay much attention to festivals when they're in the earlier stages.

they could headline though....they've headlined latitude recently and that's on the same scale as EP.

yeah ok not a headliner but he has that 'legends' slot on the sunday

and that's sorta like a headline act...it's always one of the big announcements anyway

They're not as big as EP head-liners usually are though. Probably headline one of the tents.

Doesn't the thing say they're playing the Electric Arena? Definitely not a main headliner.

I'm sure it'd be more publicised if it were, also
