Can't say the trailers grabbed me at all. Still will go see it though.billysexcrime wrote:Just back from Alien:Covenant. I thought it was worse than Prometheus.

Alien was kinda shite. Cgi was godawful too.
Best part was me and my mate had the whole cinema to ourselves. Second time in a month. That cinema must surely be close to goin out of business

Speaking of cinemas going out of business, the movie house in Belfast is to be demolished and replaced by office buildings. Down to one overly priced expensive city cinema in the Odeon now

Hardly a surprise, but Transformers FIVE looks really, really, really, really bad.
The editing and some of the CGI in the trailer are jaw droppingly bad.

I'm going to Universal Studios soon, there's a Transformers ride there that wasn't there last time I was over. It better not be as disappointing as the movies.

I thought the ride was ok. Plus it never has a line
It's basically a shitter version of the Spider-Man ride

I enjoyed Alien Covenant.
Found it more satisfying and less ponderous than Prometheus.
CGI blood should be retired though.

Stuck on Terminator Genesis, which appeared on netflix.
Despite some hammy dialogue, I quite enjoyed the opening sequence, the sense of confusion when he arrives in 1984 and the 1-1000 is after him etc.
But then Sarah Connor and the Terminator show up.
Oh my god. How did anyone involved, top to bottom, think any of that witty banter was a good idea. Especially Schwarzenegger. So painful. Shame on everyone involved.
The first thing Emilia Clarke says is "come with me if you want to live" which is of course one of the series' calling cards. And her delivery is just so poor it sets a terrible tone for the whole character. Horrible casting.
"COME WITH meifyouwanttolive"
Had to turn it off before they even got out of the van. I do want to try to watch the rest, just to bask in the awfulness of it.

I watched it the other day too. I didn't think it was as bad as that, now it's not good and yeah some of the dialogue is awful (though schwarzenegger smiling made me laugh). I'd had just been stuck in the car for more than 3 hours though so it was exactly the brainless nonsense I needed. Plot's all over the place too

The producer, Megan Ellison, caught my eye for some reason. Looked her up, turns out she's daughter of Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle and one of the richest men in America.
WINK WINK.

At the start? See that's a load of shit. He smiles in T2 and it's a great moment. It's funny, it fits the character's learning ability, he remains a bad-ass and also it develops his relationship with John.LordPercy wrote:(though schwarzenegger smiling made me laugh)
(Have it timed for the bit)
That's a little thing called good screenwriting.
I know there's the director's cut scene where he does a big stupid grin, but we're not counting that because Cameron didn't.
It's one of the first things the character does in the newer one, and they go for a cheap laugh and it's a big bag of shite.

Like if he nails it after his second try in T2, why can he still not get it after learning for years in T:G.

The Mummy Reboot is rubbish.
Probably no surprise to anyone but I wanted to watch something fx-y and blockbustery, five minutes into Tom Cruises wisecracking and I regret my decision. The script is terrible. The Mummy herself is quite attractive, once you get beyond all the rot and face tats. Dr. Jenkell shows up for some reason. Shiiiiiiite.
