Hi There,
Does any one know the name of the 10 or 11 piece band (there was a lot of them on stage) who played on the back stage in the body and soul area on sunday night/monday morning at around 1am. they gathered a massive crowd because the played classic tunes in a big band style. they had 3 brass players, two female lead singers, a violin player, a bass player, keyboardist, drummer, lead guitarist and a percussionist. their energy was infectious and they were a class way to finish off a great weekend.
They were playing covers of cult classics that everyone loves (eg boom shake the room by jazzy jeff and the fresh prince) in their own style.

regards

B

That was Chic, sure they play everywhere under different guises. Nile Rodgers is in fact Jazzy Jeff AND the Fresh Prince. He also wrote every song ever.

Oh wait, I just looked out the window and Chic went past, playing in the back of a lorry.

 In truth I would gladly have gone to them but was tired and went back to my hotel. But on the tv(on sky+ when I got home actually Eucrid!) they did look pants.

Foals looked poor enough on tv too, and they were brilliant. Sound was bled out of it completely, no bass and no crowd noise. Hozier looked like he was performing to a load of mutes.

Very true actually. I take it all back Eucrid, Chic are totes amazeballs. Still not a hope in hell they woulda surpassed Foals, Portishead or Beck for me.

Those were probably my top three too, but Chic and St Vincent were brilliant fun too.

I was a lil bored by St Vincent. Seen the show in Primavera. Really enjoyed Temples. Wild Beasts were decent too.

my highlight was Jenny Lewis on sunday at 3pm. she is some show woman and what a voice. i had a banging hangover and by the end of her set i was ready to go again.
her band were excellent and they seemed to be havinga a great time. great tunes, played brilliantly and she even played a few Rilo Kiley tunes. Bliss

I thought Foals were shite, really disappointing.

I was in bad form seeing them as I'd come straight from work, which may have influenced things.

Yeah St' Vincent could have been louder. It was good but nowhere near her and David Byrne last year.

Were Portishead actually good? I heard they were shite and lost half the crowd within the first few songs.
