Margaret Atwood - The Handmaids Tale
Been meaning to read this for ages. Was numb from boredom. I'm not a fan, don't think I'll be reading any more Atwood.

Raymond Carver - Cathedral
Love Carver, beautiful style. Gorgeous stories.

Douglas Coupland - Generation A
About half way through this now. I'm not as keen on his style now as I was when I first started reading his stuff. It's very easy going and there's a few pop culture references that I'll be following up on.

Some comics.

Michael Defore - Very Casual
Image
Was a big fan of his Ant Colony comics. This is pretty decent, I love his drawing style but could go for more story and less weird. Looking forward to watching where he goes from here.

Jesse Jacobs - Honeymoon Safari & By This You Shall Know Him
Image
More weirdness and excellent drawing. Really unnerving stuff. I love this guy.

Thinking of buying an original panel from 'By This You Shall Know Him'

Relish - Lucy Knisley

A comic book food memoir. Wasn't sure if the author was going to bug me with twee recollections of her passion for food. Thankfully she comes across as genuine, the drawing is pretty good. It's a nice little book. Nice gift if you know a foodie who is into comics.

Beta Testing The Apocalypse - Tom Kaczynski

This is a strong collection of well drawn sci-fi(ish) stories. Mostly urban tales, reminds me a lot of J.G. Ballard's short stories.

I love everything about this. Eagerly awaiting the 4th collected edition in December.

Story is epic, price is capped, no ads, creators fought iTunes for equal equality rights, story has been described as
"Star Wars meets Game of Thrones," and by critics as evocative of both science fiction and fantasy epics such as The Lord of the Rings and classic works like Romeo & Juliet.
It's just right up there with the best comic books I have ever read.

Its not a graphic novel its an ongoing comic.

@blitzen - i tried to read Saga a few time but it just didn't grab me. i have to give it another go at some stage.
@mojo - if you want a good graphic novel, try D4ve. robots have taken over and now do all the jobs humans used to do. D4ve is having a mid life crisis, right when the alien arrive. it's beautify drawn (think geof darrow) and has the right amount of humour in it too.

i'm not with you

most weekly comics are released in volumes thus becoming graphic novels

Well depends if you subscribe to the term graphic novel as being a beginning middle and end story as it was first intended, or just an anthology collection as it has become known thanks to Marvel and DC.

i read all 23 editions at the weekend. Youre right, it really is fantastic.

Not sure if I can stick reading things issue by issue. Will let them build up again and gorge.

Started reading Y: the last man. Its very good so far (not as good as saga though)
