Ed Piskor's Hip Hop Family Tree Vol 1 & 2

Image

Enjoyed Piskor's last one which was a kinda fictional account of the early days of hacking.
This one goes about documenting the early days of hiphop, moving from the soundsystems and block party days forward. It's undeniably well done and there's enough interesting facts to keep the reader moving along. Really well drawn also.

Started reading this at the weekend too. Its grand.
Can't say i had much time for yer man Michael Moynihan who went out of his way to destroy Jonah Lehrer.
Thought he came across full of shit, and did it compeltely as a career move.

took me a few goes to get going with Saga, but it's good. really good. blasted through the first 25 issues and then had to wait month by month for issues. hate that.

Loving Chew. It's the only thing i'm still buying in trades at the moment.

reading Daredevil vol 2. It's part of the Marvel Knights imprint, a lot darker and grittier. this is the volume that includes the Brian Michael Bendis run on the series as writer. Highly recommended. the nexflix daredevil is based off this run.

also read Alias, nothing to do with the older tv series but what the nexflix Jessica Jones show will be based on. Good quick read, again Bendis as writer. Can't wait to see the tv show now.

Bendis's run on Daredevil is phenomenal. I never had time for Matt Murdock but I had read everything else in the local library so I was stuck with reading Daredevil and it was brilliant!!! That and Bendis's run on Moon Knight are right up there as two of my favourites. Moon Knight like. Who would have thought.

Reading electronic copies of Saga (vol 2 & 3) on my lunch break in work.

Still way prefer actual books to reading on a computer but it's not a bad way to access something I'm unlikely to reread.

Reading Daniel kahneman's Thinking Fast and Slow discussed earlier in the thread. It's great. Had studied him before so was aware of the gist of his work but the depth of how far it goes really makes you think

And although everything is researched and tested, either by himself or others, he even addresses at the start the fact that he will tell you things, and you will invariably think "my god he's right".

Am only 80 off pages in so looking forward to getting through it some more

Going to start that next week Casineh. Took a shot at the first few pages of it last year but was reading 'Better Angels of our Nature' at the time and couldn't handle two heavy books at the same time.

what are you reading them on? I use use my kindle fire 7' with perfect viewer. Working my way through marvel's "Dark Reign" Lots of mini series and one off specials. it's more of a theme then a crossover event.

Read Saga on laptop using http://www.cdisplayex.com/

Would consider getting a kindle/tablet for that one purpose.
