Hahaha. Was pretty sure Giroud's goal knocked off his hand but couldn't be sure despite loads of replays, what was the consensus?

Looked to me like it hit his face so yeah, basically his nose, I'm with Lawro on that one but then it hit his arm/hand too.

Walcott's just not a striker is he? I think Souness was spot on describing him as a "near miss". he's got pretty much everything to a high standard expect for being lethal enough in front of goal. Just not a good enough finisher.

Tbf to him when he's in a run of form he's more than capable of finishing well but he's not a natural finisher by any stretch of the imagination. He looks like someone who's never kicked a football at times.

I've never been completely sold on him but I'm hugely impressed by how hard he's obviously worked on his game. His first touch, finishing and in particularly his movement have improved massively over the last couple of years and regardless of what you think of his natural ability or lack of it, he puts up great numbers when he's fit.

I've been pleasantly surprised by how good he's been up front so far. I don't think he's 'the answer' but until we get someone better I'm happy for him to get a chance to prove himself.

Hargreaves described Jerome Boateng as the best CB in the world last night too...

i don't think I've ever seen a premier league weekend with less obvious favourites. Arsenal are the only heavy favourite, and Chelsea the only other team below evens (and only just)

City should be fairly comfortable favourites for the derby.

Well there's Van Gaals decision to play Martial on the wing vindicated.

Poor call starting Lingard. Like Pereira in the Wolfsburg game all over again, game has completely passed him by.

Just leave Martial as the striker, Louis. Not every player needs to spend half their career out of position.

That was fucking terrible. Made David Moyes look like a tactical genius.

If Martial is on the wing and Rooney is playing striker at the weekend, the points are in the bag for city. That's a sure contender for greatest footballing crime LvG has committed. He's draining the life out of the team with stupid change after stupid change.

Chelsea were better with 10 men than with 11. Some disgusting antics as usual but delighted the hammers are winning these games against the top teams, on merit and not just snatch and grabs.

The squad is there this season to sustain it, its the hope and optimism that kills ya ;)
