I don't think Liverpool are trying to replace Suarez though, or at least not in a like for like manner. The system was changed last season to fit both Suarez and Sturridge into the team and it's likely that contributed (amongst other things) to the defensive issues. The likes of Lallana/Markovic are the real Suarez "replacements".What they are looking for now is a backup to Sturridge who can play in similar sort of way. That was what Remi was for until his failed medical. Lambert is a different option but he hasn't got the mobility to replace Sturridge in a like for like replacement.

Look, I'd prefer it wasn't Eto'o but I can see where the link is coming from.

I don't get Eto'o either, unless its to raise the signing profile of the club.

Someone young, in the no. 10 mould, with lots of movement, that's what pool need.
Suarez is a one off, there is no like-for-like out there.

Its not so much the goals from Suarez Liverpool need to replace, is the workrate, the creativity, and the making space for others, that they'll struggle with.

Unless Coutinho is going to play in that role, but i don't see it in him.

Markovic, Lallana, Coutinho and Sterling can all play that number 10 role. That's the last thing we need. We need a replacement for Sturridge when he is injured/rested.

I reckon Couthinho could do a decent job of it. Coutinho, Sterling, Sturridge and Lallana. Thats a front 4 capable of competing for 4th. Its the rest of the Liverpool team that needs work then, they wont manage any more you score 4, we score 5 stuff.

Lovren and Can will make a huge difference at the other end I reckon. Also Manquillo looked very capable on Sunday. Moreno would be nice.

I realise i just said its not his goals they'll struggle to replace, but none of those lads are a forward, and there is an owness on someone for a certain quota of goals that i don't see any of those lads fulfilling, unless Sterling really becomes a huge player. Can't say i know much about Markovic just yet.

Its a no. 10 like a Rooney i think they need rather than a 10 like a Fabregas or Oscar. Someone who could lead the line, but will allow Sturridge the freedom to do his own thing.
An unselfish foil for Sturridge essentially.

Can't say the market is choc full of lads that come to mind though.

Suarez is irreplaceable. Tevez is the only one that comes close. Those lads are gonna get more chances now that he isn't on the pitch, hopefully they take them. The whole midfield is gonna have to pick up the goals stick.

I'm expecting Sturridge to pick up a load of niggly injuries this season that will keep him out for 3/4 games at a time, especially with the added burden of CL football. It happened a few times last year despite only having 1 game a week. I don't think he can be relied on to stay injury free for the season

Yeah that's my worry too. Bony would be a decent option. I reckon we'll grab him last minute if all else fails.

I'd imagine Harry is delighted. That's another couple of days a week he doesn't have to turn up for work now
