Talk of Daley Blind well. I know he can play DM as well but its looking like a right cock up of a summer after a promising start.

we looked very average tonight but hopefully it was because we were keeping one eye on the weekend
I'd be concerned that we'll be very easy to get results off if teams just defend deep, two banks of 4, with Rooney, Van Persie, and Mata in very advnaced positions with very little space.

RE Rojo, i don't get it. I thought Daley Blind would have been a shoe in ahead of him. Left sided but has a bit of versatility about him too.

Rooney named as captain, Fletcher vice-captain.

But Rojo did a rabona in his own box :o

I would have taken Rojo if we didn't get Moreno

But i thought we'd settle on Moreno at about 16m, and though Rojo would be closer to 10-12 from earlier paper talk in the summer

Has there ever been a situation like it where a player has been at a club for 10 years, probably going to end up being the all time leading scorer, and 90% of the fans didnt want him as captain?

Just realised Europa League could be a lot more competitive this year with winners getting a CL playoff spot

Another avenue for the team in 4th to get shafted like Spurs that time

Is that the situation now? Would've assumed most people would be happy with him.

I reckon Rojo is better than Blind and he can play all across the back line. Especially in a 5 man back line.

Surprised United aren't trying for more experience at the back though. And they still need a big signing, statemt of intent sort of player.

Don't want him why, cos he's not the best candidate or cos of the contract shit last season?

That's what all the Vidal nonsense has (or possibly hasn't) been about.

He's held the club to ransom twice now to get a better deal for himself. Has shown that he was willing to leave when there was more money on offer at City. Whatever about doing it in private, it was the public nature that he did it in. Then coming out last year and trying to force the move through to Chelsea. And then there talk of it being part of his contract negotiations last season to get the captaincy, whilst also looking to be consulted about transfers. it stinks.

He's by far and away the best candidate for it, it should never have been in doubt that he was going to get it after Vidic left, but the majority of fans that I know don't want him near it.

Unless he single handedly wins us the league and the CL in the next 2 years, I'll never forgive the cunt over that shit in 2010 and publicly questioning the ambition of the club and Fergie, and then change direction as soon as a whopper deal was on the table

I'd take both Blind and Rojo.
Rojo can play the LCB position and play out from there. Only seen him at the WC, and although i loved it at the time, if tries that rabona shit with us i'll want him shot.
Blind is reinforcement for midfield as well as wingback

Has blind ever played in centre back. Cos we need 2

Other than Vidal, I can't think of any other statement of intent signings we could make. We already have world class players in attacking positions. World class centre backs are too thin on the ground, as demonstrated by city paying over 40m presumably, for Mangala.

Tiote to Arsenal is on like Donkey Kong. Just hope the price is northwards of the £12 Newcastle got for Debuchy. £15m sounds right - especially if Rodwell goes for £10m and Ashley knows Wenger was actively looking at Khedira/Kroos for £20m.

If there's truth in PSG going after Di Maria again, I hope that opens the door for Cavani or Lavezzi for Liverpool if PSG are restricted by FFP

I would value him at around £10m

But yet you think James McCarthy is worth more than £24 million?

Khedira would be nice.
