Nice finish Rooney, nice fk Pereira. Hopefully Jones will stay on the bench unless Smalling or Blind are injured.

20 million price tag is too much pressure for some players to deal with Dara!

At this stage it's when rather than if for Rodgers. Things are getting worse and he seems to have lost the players since the end of last season.

We're as bad as Hodgson era. At least the squad is stronger though, with a top manager I think we can challenge for top 4 almost immediately. Poor Brodge looks completely lost.

Benteke is the big elephant in the room for a new manager. Who ever ye get in will need to play to his strengths

Strengths as in "give him the ball with supporting players less than 20 yards away from him"? There is no reason why dumbass couldn't have tried Benteke and Ings up til now. Or the wing backs as he has done in the last 2 games. It's just a mess.

I don't know if they have the squad to get top 4 yet, even with a change in manager - Benteke, Sturridge, Coutinho, Can are all good enough for it, but the back 3/4 and keeper is very weak, and the rest of the midfield is still fairly average, Milner doesn't add anything at CM that you didn't already have with Henderson.

They had to come out yesterday and deny approaching Ancelotti. Thats never a good sign when thats the sort of rumours that emerge.

There's also talk of Klopp.... but i'm not sure how genuine that is, because it seems to be largely generated from 1 very optimistic mate of mine.

I like Rodgers, i think he's a good manager, and a good fit for Liverpool, but i said it after they lost the league to Chelsea that he'd be gone in 18 months. There was only 1 bite at that cherry once Suarez was sold, and he's been a victim of his own success since.

Had he squeaked 4th that year, say, last year would have been acceptable, and he'd be given more time now.
He's young, i don't see why Everton could bounce from 6th to 16th to 6th to 16th with Moyes and let him develop the squad, and Liverpool can't do the same with Rodgers.

I know its not great at the moment, but he's shown that he can play an attractive brand of football too, its not like the club is lumbered with Fat Sam.

he spent an absolute fortune though. as opposed to moyes, who was one of the most consistent manager with next to no reserves. that heaps on teh expectations, and you've got to deliver. obviously losing suarez was the worst, but not having sturrudge at all has completely screwed him. last season was just a waste, and benteke was supposed to be teh answer this year

remember seeing a money spent vs points per manager chart, and it was consistently fat sam and moyes at the top of it

Half Rodgers problem is the way he goes on. And yeah the other half is unrealistic expectations in Liverpool. United fell apart for a year and Liverpool broke into the top 4, then Liverpool lost their best player and United regrouped. Its very difficult to out do the top 4 consistently without massively out spending them.
