my brother listened to classical music as a teenager

he literally had hundreds of classical music tapes and cds

what an odd thing for a teenager to be into

Did he do music at school? I did it to GCSE level and I listened to a fair amount of classical stuff for that, and then other stuff I ended up liking. Still do sometimes, some great driving tunes in classical music!

Music at school? You must be joking. We didnt even have PE where we went

not saying there is anything wrong with classical music at all! Just usual for a teenage boy to listen to only that i thought.

you know on car journeys with your parents and the kids would be fighting about whose tape was put on

id be fighting for take that and he would want tchaikovsky

guess he was right all along! he has a more varied taste now

to be fair i mainly listened to classical on me own. it's not like i was going round making mix tapes for people or putting it on the stereo in my mate's bedrooms or anything.

my parents were really cool when i was in my teens and would let me listen to joy division and talking heads dead loud when they were driving me anywhere.

we don't even have the radio on nowadays. they say it's too distracting.

Now I've an image of you stuck in the back seat as an adult complaining that they won't play anything.

Or is it that the roles have reversed and you're driving them around?

ha, no they still drive me and my missus about when we're home and we're all going out for food

my dad doesn't drink you see so he's always the designated driver

my mum did stick a CD on once when she'd had a few glasses of wine but it was christmas panpipe music and to be honest I'd have preferred no music at all

I had that on tape and I loved it. At the time I also loved To the Extreme by Vanilla Ice.

First album was Gn'R Lies, though thats sort of an EP.

First CD I ever bought was Ice T-OG.

First record I ever I had was bought for me as a present and was Musical Youth - Pass the Dutchie.

Yeah, my first albums would have been tapes.

First CD was In Utero, which was a good few years later.

First 7" was Pajo and the Junkbox, 'Let's wash our socks for Christmas'

I dunno about studies but surveys show those who listen to classical music on average have the highest IQ. The next? Metal.

Also if you own an offy, play classical music. When people are buying wine they spend more money on fancier wines if there is classical music playing.

sure you were telling us that he goes and picks up your chinese

now mine would never do that

not that I'd use the chinese takeaways around home anyway. they're disgusting and they cost a small fortune.
