I got a new car a couple of months ago on a leasing deal. You get a brand new car off the production line with no miles. Pay £x a month for 3 years then either pay a chunk of cash to keep it, upgrade it to a new model of the same make, or just hand it back to the dealer and walk away.

Yeah but isn't X amount quite high?

I think I'm gonna get a new family car after xmas. Want an estate to fit the dog, buggies, etc Trying not to get anything too dear though. Just something to do for a few years.

Yeah X is loads but the point is it gives you a new car for not very much a month. There's no obligation to keep it at the end.

If you get to the end you can walk away and get another brand new one, or save a few quid up and buy an old heap of junk or whatever

the popularity of that form of financing makes me skeptical.

So, heh yes, and at a glance it looks ridiculously cheap over there.
