for the week for work aye! Sao Paulo is some city - huge. Sky scrapers as far as the eye can see! flying back tomorrow, and then on to the much less glam Bonn ...

Bonn isn't a great city but its very close to Koln, which is well worth checking out.

I have a newfound respect for frontend design now that a colleague has done a demo on performance.
I have been optimising just 10% of the time taken to load webpages.

If you're on either side and do not at least have a decent understanding of the other you're not trying hard enough.

Agree. It's one of my bigger gripes about my current place. Not enough Ops awareness that is.
I would hate hate all the compromises that need to be made on that side though.
