I disagree.
I don't think there's woman out there who really wanted to be comedians and then kept getting told 'woman aren't funny' so they decided to sack it.
It's not like stand up is some golden circle of rich white guys that turn everyone else away. Anyone can do it if they want. Anyone. They just mightn't be any good at it.

There's no more women comediennes these days than there were in the 80's or 90's. It's not a thing of getting more chances. Rosanne barr, rhea pearlman, French and Saunders, birds of a feather, Murphy brown, golden girls.... its not the Vinci code, there's no great conspiracy. Clowns and court testers don't get rich, so why would it be a closed shop?
It's a left-side / right-side brain thing. Thats all it is. No harm in acknowledging it. Are there funny women? yes of course, but not in the same ratio as there are men.
