what makes a cocktail a cocktail ? To me they should always contain more than 1 type of booze to at least begin compensating you for the price you're charged
but I love mojitos, I don't know who I am anymore

They should have more than one type of booze definitely!

If I'm drinking cocktails I'm foregoing my masculinity in the name of getting pissed in the sun

We made a punch before with tequila, whiskey, vodka, red wine and buckfast, and loads of fruit and lemonade. Proper

according to the good folk of wikipedia:
A cocktail is an alcoholic mixed drink that contains three or more ingredients—at least one of the ingredients must be a spirit, one sweet/sugary and one sour/bitter.[1]

Cocktails were originally a mixture of spirits, sugar, water, and bitters.[2] It is now often used for almost any mixed drink that contains alcohol, including mixers, mixed shots, etc.[3] A cocktail today usually contains one or more kinds of spirit and one or more mixers, such as soda or fruit juice. Additional ingredients may be sugar, honey, milk, cream, and various herbs.[4]

STILLLLL though, the one that gets me the worst is Cuba Libre...rum & coke. Come on lads

i was thinking that surely an old fashioned is a cocktail and it only has 1 type of alcohol

so i googled and it's on the IBA (International Bartenders Association) official cocktail list and they describe a cocktail as "an alcoholic mixed drink that contains three or more ingredients—at least one of the ingredients must be a spirit"

edit: too slow

I don't agree with this, fellas drinking cocktails isn't girly. I love drinking out of these glasses! For one thing it's a challenge when you're already a bit pissed.

ugh martini glasses can f*ck right off. I've paid you 12 quid for this tiny drink, please give it to me in a glass that doesn't slop it all over the shop

The only way drinking that could look more girly is if you used a cock as a straw.

I always get long islands exactly because of the one spirit cocktails are not value/martini glasses are not value reasons, it defeats both. Also they're delicious and sneakily potent.
I kinda don't like getting mojitos because of all the free ones they gave out at those launch parties, in my head now they should be always free.

When you're doing rounds and the bar's flat out and you have to wait on a Guinness.

I hate that sh*t.

Cocktails with only one alcoholic drink in them should be renamed sh*t cocktails. Otherwise you could call drinking a naggin having a cocktail.

Its sh*t bar staff who leave your Guinness sitting way longer than it should who are the problem there.
