Re: Do you like your job??

There's no timeline for the next officer promotion, it all depends on a multitude of things. A mate who started the same month as I did (at entry level) got it about 5 years ago. But he's a superstar. A girl that sits near me, is pretty decent at here job, but still not there after 18 years. But... ...

Re: Do you like your job??

how worried are you the useful girl in your team will leave altogether, nevermind the Mat Leave? Are the useless people on your team just shit in general, or shit compared to her? Like if she left, would you imagine her replacement would probably still be better than them? Would she slot into your ...

Re: Do you like your job??

I'd move - you're in your 30s right? a couple of years isn't the end of the world, as you say, you'll expand your experience (rather than just increasing experience in what I guess is a specialized area) I think that in 3 years time, it'll look better on your CV that you've reached that officer lev...

Re: Do you like your job??

What Zook said. Can't you just jump up a grade in another company, or is that not a risk you want to take right now? That would be the preferred path, but there are almost no jobs available. I've bee search and working with recruiters since the turn of the year and nothing has come up. In this coun...

Re: Do you like your job??

Head has been wrecked in my current job for a while now, and I've been looking at the options to get out since a bit of a showdown with the department head earlier in the year of the treatment of our team and a load of lies he told me. Then this morning - in what appears to be an effort to stop me l...

Re: Do you like your job??

According to a digital pamphlet prepared and sent out to a lot of external people by some genius here, Barings Bank went bankrupt due to rogue trader Liam Neeson.

Re: What's on your mind?

send us a pic of the fancy doors. Maybe the plain ones too. http://www.jeld-wen.de/produkte/produktfinder/produkt/?productId=6362 No joke, that's them. Pretty bog standard. ("Fancy" was the word he used in his broken English). He said it was because they're handmade to measure. I told him to go an ...

Re: What's on your mind?

I applied for mine last week, and probably would have done the exact same thing but for reading about it on reddit about a month ago. Robbing bastards. Speaking of which, the missus was trying to convince me to go for the 'fancy doors' on a pantry we're building. She said that if I was opposed to ge...

Re: What's on your mind?

Got caught rapid taking a picture of a couple of strippers last night when they sat down beside us on a bench. Had to bolt it pretty sharpish. Was lucky the massive bouncer had nipped back inside at the time. were they in their stripping outfits outside? where was this? On Friday it's the national ...

Re: Do you like your job??

Just had a wonderful moment in work. Went over to ask someone a question. She was slouched in her chair, left elbow leaning on the arm-rest holding her phone up and Whatsapping at break-neck speed. I asked "hey, do you work on client x?" and without even remotely slowing down her typing or moving he...

Re: The Travel Thread

And a book well well worth reading while youre there is Not Without My Father. It's a quick read, but it'll give you a huge insight into just how crazy the whole situation was and the lasting legacy it has left the country. I must be really ignorant of Cambodian history. I'm a couple of pages into ...

Re: The Travel Thread

I text my mate on Monday to see if he'd be visiting London the same time I'll be there in a few weeks... long story short, we've booked flights to Cambodia in November instead.

I'll only have a week there, so anything I definitely shouldn't miss?

Advise her that it's a bad idea and then get your application in first  She's going for a lower level role than I am. So there's no conflict there. I'd love if the two of us got the roles. Had the chat with my boss, not long after she had. I opened with "So I had a chat with X. I told you m...

Re: Do you like your job??

Over the past few weeks I've put a lot of thought into my career and decided that I am going to apply to move to another department. I was too fed up with myself and one of the girls covering 90% of the work, while two others were taken from our team and replaced with 1 useless girl and a new guy wh...

Re: What's on your mind?

Just heard a great conversation in work. One lad was telling everyone who'd listen that he did the half marathon at the weekend and how tough it was given that it was 29 degrees. A second lad who ran it came in and was asked how he got on. He said he was disappointed and didn't do as well as he'd ho...
