Re: Do you like your job??

I've been working in community education for over 7 years. I like the work but there's no security and the money sucks. I've had ongoing issues with contracts and I'm fed up of it. There's no pay scale and I'm skint (relatively). Going to try and make a career change to technical writing/e-learning...

Re: Official Gym Thread

I say this as someone who recently tried to run a marathon after missing most of my long runs (through a combination of injuries and laziness).......had to pull out after 30k.

Re: Official Gym Thread

Dublin is fairly tough, but not terribly so; there's quite a bit of elevation gain over the course, but no absolute killer hills. Weather will normally be grand, though last time I ran was in 2014 and it was very humid. Here's a program put together by Hal Higdon that might be of use; http://www.hal...

Re: Fantasy Football: The Executive Game 2016-17

I've done it a couple years in a row now, don't think I'd bother organising next year. Might join up if someone else did, though.

Eliud Kipchoge ran 2:00:24 in Monza for the Nike sub 2 marathon project......not WR eligible, but still unbelievably amazing Article says scientists already believed that <2hrs was humanly impossible, and this run, with flawless + rigged conditions, seems to have proved them right. Made me think, t...

Re: Official Gym Thread

What sort of time would you be doing for 5km? I quite enjoy it (recreationally). Quite like 8km too. Like they're just arbitrary figures for me really but do enjoy pushing myself once I get out there. Humidity in Vietnam is same as HK, winter was lovely for running but it's summer again now and eve...

Re: Official Gym Thread

5k is the distance I hate running the most, I think.....the pace I have to keep up is not enjoyable at all, just around 20 minutes of pure pain. Half marathon probably the one I enjoy the most, as I can settle into a decent pace but still feel I'm pushing myself. Started on some 400m repeats last ye...

Re: Official Gym Thread

I used to get my runs done at lunchtime when I was living in Dublin, usually 8k. Since moving to Hong Kong though, my fitness has gone to shit......hard to run outside with the humidity, and I've had a niggly groin injury for the past few months. Most of my exercise is football or Gaelic now, probab...

Re: The Travel Thread

I live in Hong Kong, so not sure how much it'd be to book from Ireland. Tickets cost me €420 direct from HK, then everything in Nepal itself seems pretty cheap.

Re: The Travel Thread

In Kathmandu now.....had two days here. Saw some class temples, but it's an absolutely mental city. Traffic is total mayhem, just pedestrians, cars, motorcycles and cows sharing the road (no pavements, road signs, traffic lights, etc). Loads of damage still around from the earthquake as well. Also, ...

Neil Taylor you absolute fucking cunt, horrible tackle. Seeing people say it wasn't "intentional"......how can you go in like that and it be anything BUT intentional? He wasn't anywhere near the ball.

Re: What's on your mind?

I was at my cousin's wedding in SF a couple years ago......few months before, he'd asked whether I wanted to the beef or salmon. I'm used to Irish weddings where any beef or lamb is hopelessly overcooked and dry, so went for the salmon. On the wedding itself, it was individually cooked fillet steaks!
