Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

Kong: Skull Island was better than I expected. Decent Sunday matinee material. Brie Larson seems to be everywhere at the moment.

First episode of S2 Preacher is the most fun thing I've seen all year, bananas.

Re: The Book Thread

Started reading ebooks on an iPad recently, kinda gotten me back on track with reading. Haven't been craving novels, mostly reading humourous stuff. Steve Coogan - Easily Distracted Good insight into the guy and his insecurities, he doesn't go into the drug and booze recollections too much but he do...

Only know the top 3 in that billing. But sure if it's free you can check it out and take it from there.

Radiohead were great last night. Very generous set. Was surprised at the feelings of nostalgia, especially during Let Down and My Iron lung. Such a huge catalogue of great songs.

American Honey
I had reservations (le boeuf, running time) but ended up really enjoying this. Lovely cinematography, some great moments, could do with being shorter but the ramble is worth taking.

Re: Do you like your job??

I've been working in community education for over 7 years. I like the work but there's no security and the money sucks. I've had ongoing issues with contracts and I'm fed up of it. There's no pay scale and I'm skint (relatively). Going to try and make a career change to technical writing/e-learning...

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

The Mummy Reboot is rubbish. Probably no surprise to anyone but I wanted to watch something fx-y and blockbustery, five minutes into Tom Cruises wisecracking and I regret my decision. The script is terrible. The Mummy herself is quite attractive, once you get beyond all the rot and face tats. Dr. Je...

Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

I watched the first episode and thought it was a bit shit and didn't bother with any more Same. Dialog is fantastic, it looks incredible, its as mad as a box of frogs, and Lovejoy is just playing the Devil/Swearengen, so its a winner. Does it improve vastly from the first episode or did you just ge...

Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

I like Broad City. It's a bit like Spaced, but set in New York. It seems not by accident either. I tweeted Edgar Wright a while ago saying that; he replied saying they asked me to direct the finale last year but I had to say no. Cool, yeah I loved Spaced. Baby Driver should be coming out this month.

If you haven't watched Review yet you should. Always Sunny is still good. Brooklyn Nine-Nine too. Love Review. Was gutted by the recent short season. Normally enjoy Sunny but was put off by an early episode of the current season. Must give it a go again. Brooklyn Nine Nine bugged me when I tried it...

Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

Yeah, I'm a fan of Catastrophe alright. Sharon Horgan was on Adam Buxton's podcast last week, she comes across as being very cool. Rob Delaney was also on the same podcast and spoke a lot about depression, very interesting chap but seemed to either hate Buxton or was very low at the time. I read his...

I enjoyed Alien Covenant.

Found it more satisfying and less ponderous than Prometheus.

CGI blood should be retired though.

Katz Deli for lunch/dinner. Just makes horrifically unhealthy food that tastes amazing https://www.katzsdelicatessen.com/ Seen that place on travel shows, dangerous looking sandwiches. The filling to bread ratio looks challenging. Am keen to checkout some breweries. I'd probably look for Evil Twin ...

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

Boss Baby
My niece summed this film up pretty well, it's about a baby, who's a boss.

She also fell asleep during the climactic scenes.

It's funny enough, Alec Baldwin doing his 30 Rock thing. It's not as smart or emotionally engaging as a Pixar movie, enjoyable but forgettable.
