Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

Star Trek was decent since the break, two really good eps, but today's one is kind of treading water again. The whole first section was all in with war against the Klingons, then suddenly they've veered into the parallel universe thing. They could have gotten full season storylines out of both of th...

Re: Official Gym Thread

Nothing about the title in any of the article. If it's not for the belt it'll be an absolute farce, no?

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

The Post Solid newsy drama, Hanks and Streep are typically good, but they roles both of them could do in their sleep tbf. Lots of satisfying Spielbergian touches. You forget how fond he is of the long takes; some of them are superb, especially the first meeting between the two leads. Newsroom cultur...

Re: The Book Thread

Started 11-22-63 by Stephen King. My sis-in-law pressed it into my hand the other week and has asked loads of times, have you started it have you started it, so I feel I'll be letting her down if I don't. It looks very long but I haven't read a King novel in years, so away we go. Can anyone vouch fo...

Re: What's on your mind?

Had a pounding headache all day because I was in a friend's house last night. Couple of drinks got had, but the headache is because everyone except me was chain smoking all evening. The air was thick with it. I'd probably still have the odd ciggy on a night out but so glad I've left the habitual smo...

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

Watched a good mix of films the past few days Lawrence of Arabia - this was on in the IFI a few months ago and missed it; never saw it before so went about it. You can see why it has such a historic rep, it really is an incredible film. Genuinely eye-popping cinematography - basically any film shot ...

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

Watched Bright, the netflix yoke with Will Smith. It got absolutely slated in the reviews, but it wasn't that terrible. It was dumb and a bit of a mess, and kind of racist, and it didn't really make any sense but Will Smith and yerman Edgerton made for a good enough duo and there were some good indi...

Powerful urge to uzi my whole office to bits today.

Various colleagues' insignificant behavioural tics are filling me with white-hot, murderous rage.

Bring on the break.

Watched John Wick. Didn't get the love atall. Great role for Keanu, but it lacked heavily in pretty much every other department.

Have been so busy the past couple of months, haven't been able to play anything in weeks.

That'll all change over the break, gonna hit it hard.

http://waterfordwhispersnews.com/2017/12/18/grown-man-doesnt-like-laser-sword-movie/ Yeah people losing their shit is a regular thing, but what's funny about it this time is it's clear that what this and TFA are about is the audience's relationship with Star Wars itself. Rey and Kylo Ren are the ch...

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

I enjoyed it.
Bit on the long side, which I don't usually say, and the humour felt a bit too...self-conscious. Like the phone gag at the start.

I absolutely hated those monkey fish nun things on the island, fwiw.

started on Fallout 4. not sure if i'll go all in on all the building and scavenging, don't have the time for that. picks up where fallout 3 left off, in a spiritual and game-play scene. graphics are all right, nothing special so far. lots of quests to keep me busy. i did start to play Dragon Age In...

Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

I think The Pacific is possibly due a reappraisal. Not knowing it was going to be so unlike BoB probably actually made it an impossible position. Watching it without comparisons to BoB I think it could stand up alright I'd say the difference in tone is in line with historical accuracy. Morale among...

Hell or High Water.....

Noted. Cheers.
Fantastic film; one of the best of the last couple of years.

The contemporary western is a great genre.
