Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

Yeah it's a hard one. It's so cruel when suicide and depression takes anyone, but especially when it's such a unique person, universally admired, really down to eart; the quintessential bon vivant . Watched the Dublin episode last night, he was scoffing taco fries and batter burgers in Roma II on We...

Re: What's on your mind?

Tantalisingly close to finishing a loan I've had for like 8 years. It's been that long because I topped it up twice along the way.

That will be a glorious day.

Shouting into the void here I know; just wanted to share that.

Re: What are you currently listening to?

People are obviouisly more interested in Tool, but the new one by A Perfect Circle came out today. Seems decent enough, but actually sounds more like Puscifer than APC. Loads of piano and synthy sounds, guitars scaled back loads. Gonna give it a few go-arounds though. Good to finally hear new stuff ...

Will hopefully return to EP in 2019 after a two year break, and 1000% will be using a posh camping option.

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

Ready Player One is absolutely fucking shiiiiiiite. I don't usually have such a vitriolic reaction to a film but I'd say it's possibly one of the worst films I've ever seen. 2 1/2 hours of "jemember this? jemember that! Oooooh I 'member", combined with the most obscenely over the top CGI you've ever...

Wanted to watch Civil War on Friday there so signed up to NowTV. You get two weeks' free trial and between us we have four bank cards so gonna game it for a couple of months then decide whether to keep it. It's pretty great. Since it's basically Sky Movies, the film choice is vastly superior to Netf...

Oh no, you misunderstand. I mean Ready Player One reads like the obsessive ramblings of an unhinged serial killer.

Any excerpt I've ready from Ready Player One reads like the music chapters from American Psycho.

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

Annihilation on Netflix is excellent. Arrival meets Predator meets Under the Skin. I know Mute got a bit of a kicking, but it's great to see Netflix put money behind intelligent and ambitious sci-fi movies like the two of those, and let the audience decide. I didn't like Mute that much but there's s...

Yeah same. Would see Kenneth Lamar out of curiosity; love Massive Attack but have seen them loads of times.

I hope people who aren't old old wooden ships are pleased with everything below that, cos I've no idea. Some of the band names are just jumbled up letters.

Re: Campervan Tickets

Hi Lucy, they're generally very hard to come by afaik, they sell out so quickly and people buy them to use them. Best thing to do is simply keep an eye out here, on sites like toutless and also on twitter, people there generally use the #ticketfairy hashtag. And maybe competitions but I don't know i...

Since we're on the subject lads, I'm gonna be a dad too, in July :D

I'm enjoying all the different strands of advice people are offering

My favourite so far has been "don't listen to any of it".

Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

I haven't watched The Walking Dead since season 2 I think. Lost interest. What's going on with it these days, in a nutshell? Are they still walking? Is there some sort of society re-established, like in The Stand, or are they just rambling along getting into adventures along the way? Are the zombies...

I think Dunkirk is getting snubbed because it's such an obvious play for the big awards.

The Dark Knight. Snubbed. Inception? Snubbed. Interstellar? Snubbed.

Nolan: FINE I'LL MAKE A FUCKING WW2 FILM YOU FUCKING SNOBS JUST GIMME THE GOD-DAMN STATUE.

Yeah Jordan was kicked around for Black Panther at the same time Coogler's name started getting mentioned for the gig, straight after Creed came out. Problem was they had already cast and shot his role in Civil War so it was a moo point.
