Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

I had a shot of the Sky Q machine in my oul pair's the other night. The UI is excellent, really fast + intuitive menu system. It makes the Virgin one look even worse than it already is.

Movies On Demand is RIDICULOUS.

Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

I like Maeve Higgins. Saw her at the Iveagh gardens gig a few months ago and I was impressed by the fact that she had a decent amount of material based on news and showbizzy stuff from that past couple of days. Which was also funny. A lot of comics lean on the same jokes for months and months, years...

Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

Finished watching Star Trek Discovery. It was OK, it had its moments, but overall very disappointed by it. Going by the ending there Looks like they're going to do again what JJ did to cheat the original timeline. Split into a parrallel universe where they can subsequently go any way they want witho...

Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

On the topic of the lost art of waiting a week for each episode of a show you love; something I always note about The Sopranos' flawless nature is that they never, ever did cliffhangers. Except that one time... ...when Tony was shot in s6e1. Correct me if I'm wrong and there were others? Obviously t...

Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

Anyone see Nowhere Fast last night, RTE's latest stab at a sitcom. With the emphasis on stab. Christ, it was fucking terrible. The main one, Alison Spittle, who also wrote and created it, cant act for shit. It looks awful, camera and lighting is total garbage and the dialogue was painful. Comedy or ...

Jesus, Kevin Spacey is absolutely toxic right now. Radioactive. Career over.

Ridley Scott recasting + reshooting Spacey's entire role in his new film All the Money in the World - which is out in FOUR weeks.

I don't think I'd like to watch it again though. Ruin the illusion and all.
As a matter of fact, it's still highly effective.

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

We watched Ghostwatch last night, the BBC mockumentary from 1992. Groundbreaking stuff, years ahead of The Blair Witch Project. Still absolutely brilliant. Few articles going around about it this week for the 25th anniversary; it seems there is absolutely no way the Beeb will ever repeat it. Apparen...

Yeah that's fairly shambolic. It would have been a piece of piss to get out in front of that and defuse it.

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

Watched The Death of Stalin last night. It's really funny, quite dark at times aswell. Farcical squabbling over mass executions. Also, Armando Iannucci just hinted on twitter that The Thick of It is coming back. "I have good news later for those asking for Malcolm Tucker on Brexit." Some people int...

Re: The Book Thread

This Changes Everything by Naomi Klein has defeated me. So dense and complicated, it's a massive slog. Realised I was only on page 80 of ~600 the other day, and it took me weeks to get there. The sheer amount of information on each page, it's a struggle. The fact that it's a book about the urgency o...

The Trip to Spain is vg but as always, the episodes where there are other people at the table with them are excruciating.

Is that some Winterbottom thing I wonder. Are they supposed to be excruciating.

I didnt think you were allowed show an erect penis on telly. Or is it because it's HBO?

Also never thought I'd see Maggie Gylenhall do scenes like that

Well this post was quite the rollercoaster.
