Re: The Footie Thread 2014/15

Last big pay day I guess. Should have moved to the Premiership 2 years ago, he'd be just as rich when he retired and he wouldn't have to sacrifice his ambitions.

Re: The Footie Thread 2014/15

I think Aubameyang is a level above Lacazette. He'd go straight into the top 3 strikers in the league along with Kane and Aguero IMO. Sounds like there are a lot of potential ins and outs at Arsenal right now. Hopefully Mislintat is working on a pretty big overhaul. I agree he's better than Lacazet...

Re: The Footie Thread 2014/15

I really hope we don't take any of Uniteds rejects. The only United players I'd want to see us taking are the ones they wont offer.

Re: The Footie Thread 2014/15

He's no leader but he is a great signing for United IMO. Jose can sit back all he wants and just throw Sanchez and another forward up front and still have a decent goal threat. I've seen people say he wont suit Jose but I think the opposite, the problem is he gives the ball away far more than most p...

For the reviews I read and heard said it wasn't good reasons. I'll probably watch the new Woody Allen film.

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

I'd say Soairse is a far better actress than Emma Stone. Wont be watching Stones movie this year though so can't say how the performances stack against each other.

I, Tonya is very, very good. Margot Robbies performance is better than McDormand and Ronan too.

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is a very enjoyable fun film but like Ladybird I'm not really fancying it for an Oscar for best picture or anything. McDormand is very good though and Sam Rockwell could be a bit of a dark horse for best supporting actor.

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

Noah Baumbach made films like Frances Ha, Mistress America (both starred Greta Gerwig who directed Ladybird), Squid and the Whale, GReenberg, etc I like his films a lot. I like Gerwig a lot too. And TBH I liked Ladybird a lot.

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

Ladybird is good but I don't get the hype. Its the kind of film I like and watch a lot of, big Noah Baumbach vibes from it, its in that wheelhouse but I don't think it transcends that. Just a good, fairly straightforward coming of age story with some decent, but unspectacular acting.

Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

I'm watching through The Leftovers as well. I loved the first series but we stopped after the first episode of the 2nd because that turn of events annoyed my wife so much. I'm hoping to talk her into getting back into it soon.

Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

How bad does the editing have to get that it starts to bother you? Multiple location changes and no establishing shots, small mixing of non linear time, new character, call back of an old character nobody remembers, off camera events. It was a mess. Yeah its crazy, it didn't used to be so amateuris...

Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

I stopped watching it for ages and then just ploughed through the half sitting in a couple of days. It was much more enjoyable that way. It is however an indication of dull its become.

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

I saw The Last Jedi and thought it was grand He was also a bit out of character in this one. Isn't Luke supposed to be humble and kind? What, no! Not at all. Dick The humour was very forced, like a Marvel film. I didn't think it was too long though, and I hate long movies, thought this flew by.
