Re: The Footie Thread 2014/15

Not a good week for Pep. Rule No.1 of management: don't call out a specific opposition player in pre-match press conference. Dodgy ref helped United out big time, but wow is Sterling a hopeless finisher. Better from Pogba but still think he's capable of better under an attack-minded manager, and if ...

Re: The Footie Thread 2014/15

Healing some of the sting of the Sevilla tie here. Comical from City.

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

There's one particular scene with Rooney Mara that does test patience initially but it works in the context of the film.

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

Saw on Twitter one of these bracket things where people come up with 32 films and play them off against each other til there's a winner. Which is a load of rubbish but it did put me onto how A24, an indie film distributor, has been nailing it for about 5 years now, releasing some of the best and mos...

You're being very unfair to Bret Easton Ellis there.

Re: The Footie Thread 2014/15

Well deserved. Appalling management from Mourinho, appalling performances from almost every united player barring Lukaku and to some extent Rashford (though his inexperience really shined with those constant, hopeless free kicks). Sevilla should have won the first leg as well, only right they went t...

Re: What's on your mind?

Idris Elba was actually booked for Forbidden Fruit a few years ago but pulled out at the last minute. I'd do a day of it this year if Justice, Vince Staples and Earl were all on the same one. Having seen them all before ( Justice and Vince multiple times) can't really justify it. Would love to see w...

Re: The Footie Thread 2014/15

Lindelof was poor too. Squad isn't deep enough to replace all the poor performers last night, though presumably Shaw will have to start ahead of Young. Wishful thinking that Bailly might replace Smalling I suppose. Pogba was dreadful, lazy and technically poor. Sanchez at least tried but he's in no ...

Re: Film Discussion Thread *NO SPOILERS*

Dunkirk is getting shafted so far, I've only seen Get Out, Darkest Hour, 3 billboards and Lady Bird but I'm still surprised that's not figured more strongly in any awards, thought it was brilliant. Get Out is great too, and despite being the least Oscar type film, probably has the most important mes...

Re: The Footie Thread 2014/15

He was, most improved from Sevilla. Though McTominay shadowed Hazard well too. Lukaku was brilliant, even the pressure relief in the last 5 minutes, think he outran two Chelsea defenders despite them having a few yards on him each. I'm probably in the minority, but I think Lukaku has been one of Uni...

Re: The Footie Thread 2014/15

Sanchez has destabilised whatever was (partly) working about the team. The only time the other night United looked like they might carve an opportunity was when Sanchez, Mata and Herrera were off. Too slow, too ponderous, too untidy in possession. Martial, Rashford and Lingard aren't much better tha...

Re: What's on your mind?

Kevin Hart and Chris Rock are two of the most overrated comics, not even remotely close to the best out there, but charge a fortune for it Speaking of unfunny people, I see Rob Schneider is playing Dublin this year. The comments under the announcement on facebook are uniformly negative. So at least ...

Re: The Footie Thread 2014/15

He might suit arsenal more than United, but he's a downgrade on Ozil on form, and he looks very lightweight in the league so far.

Re: The Footie Thread 2014/15

Reading about the Barry Bennell case is boiling my blood. What an absolute fucking monster. You'd have to say he would've been a big factor in Gary Speeds suicide.

Re: The Footie Thread 2014/15

I'd love to see Sanchez at United. He'd get through 3 times the amount of work Lukaku does. And he'd do it against all opposition too, not just the lower teams, when he fancies it. And in Europe. I think Lukakus put in a decent effort when he's not been scoring, does a lot of the tracking back that...
