Re: Do you like your job??

I work with a really useless guy.Passed his PMP twice, really don't know why he doesn't move on. No interest in working here and doesn't listen to anyone.

if this ends the "soccer players are pansies, GAA players are real men grr" talk from some supporters it'll be great
In fairness, people who make arguments like that aren't likely to be swayed by logic. You see a bit of diving in rugby now as well.

Re: Rugby Thread

Can't complain too much, Barnes is a bit of an annoyance but credit to Wales for defending so well without throwing away the 3 points. Ireland just couldn't make the passes stick or half breaks count. Tommy Bowe got through the initial cover a few times but we didn't play directly off it, Paul O'Con...

Re: Rugby Thread

Sexton said after the game that Huget was holding too high of a line on the outside to throw the wide pass so he couldn't give it. Obviously, he made a poor call and threw it at Payne's face but there was a motive in his madness, reading the defensive line.

Re: Official Gym Thread

I actually found the gym great for losing weight. I'd run marathons and played a good bit of rugby fat enough, the gym seemed to work a lot better for me. Eventsec is right though, diet is everything. Use a calorie counter. You don't have to stick rigidly to it but it will help you make easy substit...

Re: Official Gym Thread

I ran the pretty much the same race in Sydney 2 weeks ago. No training to speak of because of injuries. Ran well for 30km, was comfortably ahead of the 3.45 pacers but suffered badly for 10km. Half way in 1:51, finished in 3.57. Was happy to get under 4 in the conditions but i don't think I'd like t...

Friend of mine had his wedding reception in Odessa...said it was excellent. Think it would be ideal for what you're looking for if the budget matches.

I use my-private-network. Get a single month for £5, cheaper than the pub and got me Sunday game highlights as well.

Re: Stupid Facebook Updates

I can't see it now but someone posted that there are 5 Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in August this year and that only happens once every eight hundred and something years....the Chinese call it Silver Pockets Full or some nonsense. Unbelievable Jeff! I genuinely thought that person had a tiny brai...

Re: Official Gym Thread

When I was rowing we did a lot of physiological testing including taking blood and measuring the levels of lactate in it. We also did a max output test which was basically going flat out til collapse to see what you heart rate was. Basically we used this and the associated heart rates to set traini...

Re: Official Gym Thread

I was a part timer on heart rate monitoring and was always freaked by it. My resting heart rate is in the low 50's but I'd be up in the 170s in no time. I think it's only useful if you understand it well and try to train to it rather than looking at it after.

Re: Official Gym Thread

Ran my first sub-100 minute half marathon yesterday. Only 40 seconds better than my last one but massive difference to how I felt about it. Will probably go for the Sydney marathon in September but will have to fit training around rugby training.

Re: Official Gym Thread

Shit....I can't bench for shit. I squat or dead lift around my body weight but my bench is 60% of that and I cant complete a full set of reps at that.

I can also only do a handful of chin-up/pull-ups. I don't seem to be improving there much at all

Its a pretty nice run too if anyone's thinking about it. Flat and scenic. I did the full there a few years back and enjoyed it - first half was definitely the best part

Re: Official Gym Thread

Started at gym work about 6 months ago...before that it was all team sports and running. The weights work has been great. I'm definitely fitter for rugby and I've a half marathon on Sunday to see how my running is coming along.
