Re: Hello again

Hi Blitzen!

Forums (fora) have gone the way of the dodo I think. It's all about the twitters and instagrams these days.

Actually probably the youngsters have invented something else us old people don't even know about yet

Re: What's on your mind?

Those videos of the camp site with the abandoned tents and rubbish and the bulldozers are mad.

Re: TV Show Discussion Thread

I finally gave in and cancelled Netflix and Amazon and all I have left is Sky and Sky box sets. I realised I was watching one or two episodes of things then never going back. Too much choice. Ive now been watching Occupied about Russia occupying Norway by stealth after Norway turnoff oil and gas to ...

Re: What's on your mind?

Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Beck last night. Thought it was a slightly strange combination but it worked. YYYs were loud and a bit mental, Beck put on a class show.

Re: What's on your mind?

More memories of a great community. The old thread with all the links to megaupload and the like. I'd say 25% of my music collection still comes from those threads/downloads

Re: What's on your mind?

Pity alright, we had a great little online community here back in the day. Here and the predecessor of that OTHER music festival (and some of us even back to the witnness board I believe) were a fantastic if occasionally manic community over many years. Definitely lasted a lot longer than many othe...

Re: The Travel Thread

We were there late Feb which is sort of the end of summer. Most days were about 25-28 degrees and not too humid. Got dark around 7pm. Was very pleasant and probably about the perfect time weather wise. I believe it's a good bit cooler at the minute - mid to high teens and a bit of a chilly wind - an...

Re: The Travel Thread

Was at Cape Point/Cape of Good Hope there yesterday. Beautiful. The colour difference is due to how wind effects sediment with the shape of the landscape. The actual most southerly point is Cape Aguilas. The two oceans meeting stuff is a convenient commercial myth. If you only got followed by begga...

Re: The Travel Thread

I was sceptical also but yea you can definitely see different colours. It isn't a straight line though, of course! It's something to do with the temperatures if I remember right, there's a few degrees difference between the two

Re: The Travel Thread

Had Knysna down as the furthest point we'd probably be able to get out to but we spent the extra night in Oudtshoorn which meant we didn't get quite that far out. We did spend some time in Mossel Bay which was beautiful also. They had shark diving cages and i was very tempted but the price put me of...

Re: The Travel Thread

So back home and all now and slowly getting over the post holiday blues. Would say that South Africa has now gone to the top of my list of holidays so far - even allowing for recency bias. Cape Town as a city probably slides in second favourite behind Melbourne of all the cities I've visited. It wou...

Re: The Travel Thread

When do you head off? If it's after the weekend I'll give a fuller run down of what all we've been at and tips when I get home. Did it do any vaccinations but I knew we were mostly staying in the western cape so just brought some mosquito spray and the other usual vaccinations I'd had were enough.

Re: The Travel Thread

Cape Town and rural South Africa is pretty spectacular. Some mountain roads so steep our little hire car really struggled to make it over the top but the views are something else. Drove 450km through basically the desert yesterday. Went over or past at least 30 rivers if which only 2 had any sign of...

Re: The Footie Thread 2014/15

That was a really great game of football all round actually. Second leg should be a belter.

Hopefully Madrid v PSG tonight lives up to the hype
